Blu Tack marks on painted walls - please can you tell me how to remove?

Photo attached of DS's bedroom wall. He's been taking down his posters and the paintwork is full of patches of blu / white tack (like it's been welded on).

Please can anyone advise on how to remove them? Will it end up being a re-paint job?

TIA Smile (Angry at DS)

Yes, you need a spray over it to stop it seeping through then paint on top.

Thanks inchyrablue, is the spray a particular product?

lighter fluid works well

Stain stop paint - the spray goes everywhere. If you use the one in a normal tin, use a small gloss roller to get an even result as it is very thick stuff. Then paint with emulsion over the top - the marks won't come through.

WD40 is very good at lifting blu tack marks. However on a porous surface (such as paint) it leaves it's own stain. I still use it though then wipe down the paint after with a wet cloth, which makes the marks much fainter.

A magic sponge can also lift some of the marks.

The surface will never be pristine though without repainting.
