... what saucepans do you recommend???

I lost custody of the Le Creuset set in the divorce - to be fair, they were wasted on me as I barely cook, but when I do, I would like a set of non tick and not too heavy. Any views?

We've got stellar.
Hit places like tk maxx that's where we got all ours

Logans · 03/09/2017 22:51

Cheaper ones are Judge, set of 5 from £100 I think. The good thing about them is the lids have drainage holes and a lip, so you don't need to get the colander out all the time.

We also have Stellar, got some as wedding presents (1999) which we only replaced about four years ago as they didn't work with induction hob when we did up the kitchen. We replaced with new Stellar pots as we liked the style! They wash well and look smart. Like pp we've picked them up cheap, our local department store fairly regularly has half price offers.

I have ikea non stick frying pans (2nd level up of non still with metal handle) and they are fab! Dw safe (or at least ish - there are three rivers which are oxidising somewhat after a year or so of dwing) too.

I have stainless steel Le Crueset - 15 years old and still look amazing- love love love them.

Copper.

[Am quite often in Boswells kitchen dept. Tempted to wear an MN scarf or something.]

I got an induction hob a couple of years ago and bought the Stellar 5000 set - love them ( and like Pigeon - I had Prestige before then !)

Mine came from M&S over twenty years ago & are still going strong despite daily use.

thinkfast · 03/09/2017 23:05

Fissler originals. Best pans ever

We have heavy duty stainless steel Baccarat (I think). I love them! They're so indestructible that they could become a family heirloom.

We also have a variety of Tefal non-stick frypans/woks that I just throw out and replace every year or so. I'm pretty rough on cookware though.

Used to have heavy duty cast iron Le Crueset & Copco, but think that they're a bit over-rated except for my beloved griddle pan that I use for char-grilled veg.

I think you really need to think about what sort of cooking you will do. I like having a variety of cookware types because I do a lot of stir fries/pasta stuff, but no meat stews/casseroles (veggo household) which the cast iron is probably more suited to.
