Another easy day yesterday - turning all wardrobe hangers round to see what gets worn and what doesn't. I'm not sure how successful that will be with me, as I'm on mat leave and BFing so not wearing lots of things. Plus half my stuff - jeans and jumpers - are folded rather than hanging. But I'll give it a go.

I'm slightly worried there'll be a big task ahead after all these easy ones!

My dining room tends to be the depository of stuff that is being cleared out. I done have many boxes but have put a couple and some bags in there ready. I did do a charity shop drop off yesterday too which got rid of a bit. Will do hangers this morning.

Letmesleepalready · 07/09/2017 10:47

All my clothes are in a chest of drawers, so doesn't really work for me, but I did take books to the charity shop so making some progress.

I've just made an empty space on my wardrobe shelf to put each jumper / pair of jeans that I've worn. I'm also going to try and wear something different every day so I can work out what to keep and what to discard.

Our binmen take textiles so I've gotten rid of loads of outgrown clothes, managed to fill a large bag for life with just socks from DS's drawer. No wonder he could never find stuff! I could have gone to a Cash for clothes but this was just easier and I would probably have spent the same on petrol as I'd have earned.

Also managed to declutter the junk dump between the chest of drawers and the wardrobe. In theory I can now hang up dresses. In practice I need DH to get rid of all the clothes he hasn't worn for years so that I have room. Oh, and I've scrubbed the kitcheb floor as I dropped a wok full of pad Thai and the smell is lingering somewhat.

Just got today's email. Oh dear, my true clutter monster is the loft. All the empty boxes go up there, dreading clearing that when we move. A close second is the dining room which I tend to ignore...

CiderwithBuda · 07/09/2017 14:17

I have a few clutter monsters. Dining room. Garage. Under stairs. My desk. Utility room.

Oh dear. Where to start???

DesertIslandPenguin · 07/09/2017 15:03

@CiderwithBuda Maybe start with the one that's most visible if someone pops round? Or the one that bothers you the most.

CiderwithBuda · 07/09/2017 15:25

Well dining room is my depository for stuff that's going so I may as well leave that. Garage is a big job so I'll leave that. I want to tackle under stairs, utility room and desk. But I think I'll pick utility room for this challenge.

DesertIslandPenguin · 07/09/2017 16:47

Sounds like a plan!

chloechloe · 07/09/2017 16:50

I have far too many clutter monsters, the bottom of my wardrobe is a black hole of doom! But I think I'll go with the drawers in the hallway where everything without a home lands. It should be the easiest to tackle with the baby as I'm downstairs most of the day and can work at it in little bits. Have just pulled out a pile of random stuff and put it straight in the bin - horrible biros (my pet hate!), random leaflets, out of date vouchers....

chloechloe · 12/09/2017 19:26

How is everybody getting on? I completed all of the tasks last week but yesterday's task was evil (sorting paperwork; precisely the thing I need to do) and I haven't done it nor have I read today's email as the baby is ill and needs constant resettling. Will try and get back on if tonight.

I've been very good at removing an item each day from my clutter mountain though. Unfortunately I was a bit overzealous in the first few days and removed multiple items per day, so now there's nothing easy left!

DesertIslandPenguin · 12/09/2017 19:50

I'm getting on quite well. My hallway makes me smile when I come home, so that feels like a massive win. I need to tackle the filing cabinet to make room for documents, we can probably chuck old car paperwork etc!!
