What is the best vacuum cleaner?

Just that really every Hoover that I have bought looses suction after a few minutes moths despite cleaning. Can anyone recommend one with high suction that doesn't loose power

Hello!

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. We've spent weeks speaking to parents and testing out vacuum cleaners, so here's the best vacuum cleaner on the market as recommended by Mumsnetters.

Hope this helps! Flowers

Sebo . 12 years old , brilliant on wooden floors and carpets , never clogs up unlike Dyson which was forever in bits .

I have a Shark Rocket and it's very good. Prefer it to my old dyson.

If money was no object I would choose Miele

I love my shark. Best vacuum ive ever had.

Sebo

I have an x1.1 and it automatically adjusts to the floor type, and works equally well on carpets and hard floors. I always buy from a specialist vacuum cleaning shop and they recommended it.

It is brilliant

Henry. Still going strong after years of use. Works well on carpets, rugs and hard floors

Dyson, dc40 animal. I've had mine for a couple of weeks now & I love it. The amount of dust it removes from the carpet is great. Works well on hard floors too. The pet turbine tool is really good on the stairs & in the car. It took a few uses to get used to the ball & how to move it but now I have it's great. My old dyson was about 10 years so had naturally lost suction.

Friend of mine has a gtech and loves it.

pinkmagic1 · 09/09/2017 08:08

I would recommend Henry, excellent suction!

Borntoflyinfirst · 09/09/2017 08:09

Shark. Our new one is superb. Comes apart in many ways to make the job easier and sucks up SO much dog hair it's crazy. By far the best out of the dyson and Miele uprights I've had in the past. Miele one got blocked up all the time!

CWG17 · 09/09/2017 08:58

I've heard the shark is brilliant on carpets but no good on hard floors.

LizzieBoo73 · 08/05/2018 21:03

We've had Dyson's (Animal and another I can't remember) and now a shark but with two long haired girls, 2 dogs and 2 cats I'm forever untangling the roller. Have tried a RollaReleasa which makes it quicker but tempted to go with a Henry without the roller next time.

Great thread! My vacuum cleaner is very old and doesn't work good anymore. So, I'm thinking about buying a new one. I know that the robotic vacuum cleaners are popular nowadays, but I haven' tried any of them. Of course, I've already sufred the Internet and decided that one of the best brands is Roomba. I was even lucky to find a good review of two models on smartercomputingblog.com/roomba-690-vs-890/. Does anyone have any experience exactly with Roomba? Thanks in advance!

gazmitch · 01/12/2018 20:51

Thanks for the comments on here, great post The Roomba seems to be the brand people are buying some many different ones to choose www.vacuumkoo.com/roomba-860-review/ it this one any good? not got a lot of experience with robot vacuum but thinking of taking the plunge.

Has anyone got this model? The HV390UK www.argos.co.uk/product/8053774

I think I've decided it's the one I want - my only concern is that it when using it like in the attached pic, it will (a) not be too heavy and (b) have enough reach to let me (I'm 5'8") get at 10ft tall ceilings in a house that gets more than it's fair share of cobwebs ;)
