Dishwasher

Do you have a dishwasher? -- the electric variety not the DH variety ( ho ho ho 😊)

I had one for years, it broke , so I decided not to replace it for a while and see how I got on with some manual handling 😊😉

Not dissimilar to my DH dismissal decision making 😂

I digress -

....and now I love washing up , looking out at the garden and the birds.

How about you guys?

We have a dishwasher, I love it.

I'm not against handwashing I just like how it's a cupboard for dirty dishes so they're not left out on the side.

AllToadsLeadToHome · 13/08/2017 18:14

I liked washing up for a while after staying in a house that didn't have a dishwasher, and washed by hand for a while after returning. However, the use of olive oil and tea stains in mugs was the reason I went back to the dishwasher, plus time.

I wash up by hand sometimes if I am alone and not much to wash up.

Thanks for the replies! Do you find that the faff of having to clear the plates very fussily so that the dishwasher filter doesn't have a batchy fit ... makes you think ' I might as well wash these dratted plates myself' !!?? 😂

I love my dishwasher and hate doing loads by hand. I don't mind doing the few bits that can't go in. We had a party today and most stuff is in the washer and the rest will take 5 mins. I would never go back to not having one unless they became illegal!

wowfudge · 13/08/2017 19:23

I've never cleared plates fussily and DP definitely doesn't so it's dishwasher all the way for me. It washes at a higher temperature and uses less water. Also, no dirty pots on show waiting to be washed up. Plus, a real boon after a big meal or when catering for numbers. The dishwasher was the one thing we had working nearly the whole time our kitchen was being re-done

IncyWincyGrownUp · 13/08/2017 19:29

I'd not go back to being dishwasherless. I hate doing the dishes, and there's nobody else to do them.

I like the convenience and the machine is better at it than me.

crazykitten20 · 13/08/2017 19:33

I am sure that the machine is better at it than me too!!

Had a dishwasher since the mid 80's.
I now can't bear eating/drinking off anything washed by hand.

Also, I'm allergic to washing up liquid useful! Grin

As children one of our chores was to wash up after dinner each evening and I never wanted a dishwasher until I spent a weekend with a friend who had one. Our last Miele has just died after long and valiant service and I went straight out to buy another the very next day. Even when I am on my own I never think twice about using it. I wash nothing by hand apart from silver and precious glass. Had this one two days and it is even quieter than the last.

BackforGood · 13/08/2017 23:54

I'd hate to be without a dishwasher.
Why would I want to do a job that a machine could do for me? Confused

crazykitten20 · 14/08/2017 05:53

It's funny because when I had a dishwasher I wouldn't buy anything which needed hand washing 😊

I wish we had room for a dishwasher. Unfortunately, we don't.

fussychica · 14/08/2017 16:08

Had a dishwasher since 1980 but was dishwasher less while waiting for a kitchen refit when we were renovating a property. I bloody hated it. Now have a dishwasher again - heaven!

Mollypolly2610 · 16/08/2017 00:09

Have had a dishwasher for years. Now back home in a house without one and i hate all the hand washing! It's just so untidy and time consuming. Looking forward to moving house and having a dishwasher again. To me it's more hygienic.
