Tumble Dryer - questions about this exciting topic

I think it's time to get a tumble dryer. I can't keep up with the washing for a family of 5. We're mid terrace if that matters for ventilation. So...

What about safety? There were reports about some being a fire hazard - was this a particular brand or something that affects all or most dryers?

There are lots of options - what do I need to consider - any essentials or thing to avoid?

What space can I put it in, We could take out a cupboard and put in above the washing machine, but I'd rather put it in the under stairs cupboard. Does it need ventilation? Or anything for fire safety?

Are any upside down so they can go on top of a washing machine and have buttons that are easy to reach?

And finally, any recommendations?

Most are ok as long as you clean the filters. There was a problem with hotpoint ones, where they needed modification.

If you want to put it in an understairs cubard you need a condenser one. Mine need space but its something like half an inch on either side. It collects the water and I empty it after each load, I clean the door filter then as well. The underside filter needs to be washed in the shower and I do that once a week, it does say in the instructions that it can be done under the tap or in the shower, but it can't because it doesn't fit.

Mine is a candy, 9kg and was ablut £200.
