Best softener formsensitive skin

My little girl comes up In a rash with certain washing powders. We use Fairy non bio which doesn't affect her but there are some items I could really do with using some softener on. Fairy softener doesn't suit her. Can anyone with similar reactions recommend a softener?

One of the eco pages on Facebook has been talking about this recently & their washing powder. It's British allergy foundation approved.

Maybe try using some white vinegar in the softner compartment.
I wanted to try something to soften my washing but with less chemicals to irritate the skin.
I read about using vinegar and was worried it would make my washing smell horrid but it doesn't at all (do an extra rinse of your worried) and my washing is actually softer now then when I was using normal softner. It leaves a nice 'fresh' smell.

My DD comes out in severe hives with any fabric conditioner she has super sensitive skin. Fairy non bio is fine but not the softener. I use a Ecoegg and the ecoegg fabric conditioner which is 9.99 but the bottles huge and lasts ages and that's fine on her skin. Also ecover fabric conditioner is brill too altho there isn't much fragrance it really does soften. Hope this helps x

Thanks allwornout I've been considering trying vinegar for some time but your reassurance is really helpful. I think I'll give it a try. I have plenty in as I use it for
Lots of other household tasks. I was just worried it would make the laundry a bit smelly. How much do you put in a full load?

helsybells, with a full load I fill up to the top one of those little plastic dosing balls that you get with laundry liquid, think it's about 70ml.
I first tried it with a top that I had to wash on it's own in the machine, when I took it out it felt quite hard and I thought i'd made a terrible mistake but once the top dried it actually felt softer than normal.
I also now cannot stand the artificial smell left on clothes that have been softened with commercial fabric softner.
I am now a total convert.

Thanks allwornout. I totally agree - don't much care for really strong fabric softener/washing powder smells. Looking forward to trying the vinegar out!! 😁

Our daughters sound the same, I had to go hospital once it was that bad she had had a reaction to lenor. It's odd how u get used to not having much fragrance on your clothes I don't like it when I smell on other people now. The ecoegg conditioner is from amazon and ecover u can buy in most shops, really softens. Might try the vinegar now tho thanks to all worn out sounds like a good idea plus cost effective! X

Thanks Ilovetea sounds great will definitely take a look at then! Hope your little one grows out of it soon! Though I had similar as a child and still react to biological washing powder and some softener etc quite strongly even now!
