I bought 2 jar candkes from Matalan yesterday. £4 each or 2 for £6. Blooming gorgeous! I lit one in the bathroom yesterday tea time and it was lush - pomegranate it was. Went in tjis
Morning and i can still smell it.

Oh God I went down the Air Wick path out of desperation. It's a bad path

Asda had some yankee candles on sale recently.

Nurse15 · 11/08/2017 15:32

Air wick melt warmer! Fabulous :)

Butteredparsnip1ps · 11/08/2017 15:37

Nothing helpful to add, but I hope you don't mind me gatecrashing your thread OP. I'd like to know the recommendations too :-)

CSLG · 11/08/2017 15:42

I have an aroma diffuser - you use it with a few drops of aromatherapy oils - i got it and the oils from amazon - much cheaper than candles

SeaSeeker · 12/08/2017 07:51

Gatecrash away buttered Smile Still desperate for tips. Zoflora in an empty diffuser pot doesn't work as an air freshener before that comes up - it just doesn't last. Haven't tried the 'make your own' house spritz with fabric condition and Zoflora yet so maybe that's a path to go down

I got a Wax Lyrical reed diffuser from Wilko (£6) and it was really scented. Seemed to run out quickly though.

Like the sound of the aroma diffuser, going to check that out.

Eminybob · 12/08/2017 08:16

I love a reed diffuser, but I think you need to spend a bit more to get a really lovely fragrance that lasts. Next are really good but not cheap

creamcheeseandlox · 12/08/2017 08:20

I love a reed diffuser and yes next are nice but not cheap. A friend has one that I always make comments about and it's from next. The cheaper ones I buy are always rubbish and never smell u less your sitting next to them. Saying that I bought one from Aldi a while ago and it's strong and lasted but I've never seen it in there since.

Newtssuitcase · 12/08/2017 08:23

I have a vanilla wax melt in a burner which has lasted for about six months now and is still giving off scent.

We have the doors and windows open all day and then I put the burner on in the hallway in the evening when we close the doors. It smells lovely but its subtle and not overpowering like some of the floral ones can be. People often comment on it.

reallybadidea · 12/08/2017 08:30

Yy to reed diffusers. Next are good as others have said or I had a cheapie one from tesco, red grapefruit and something, which was really seemed to throw the scent a fair distance.

SeaSeeker · 12/08/2017 08:41

We have some Next diffusers which I've been impressed with. I also have a couple of M&S candles we were given as house warming presents and they smell really good.

guestofclanmackenzie · 12/08/2017 08:59

I got some room spray and stick diffuser from Next yesterday - White Jasmine.

Smells absolutely gorgeous!

£5 for the room spray and £6 for the diffuser.

wobblywonderwoman · 12/08/2017 08:59

I think the best is to buy citronella from a health shop. It is lemon - really clean. Deters flies and gets rid of cooking smells. Absolutely lovely. I burn it in an oil burner. About two or three drops along with water.

My other favourite is lemon lavendar by Yankee. The tarlets are great too - split into four is plenty

guestofclanmackenzie · 12/08/2017 09:05

Meant to also add that I also have an aromatherapy unit thing (can't remember what it's called!) that puffs out. I got it from Amazon for £25. There are cheaper ones but you need to make sure you order the right sized unit for the size of your room. DH hates it as he hates air fresheners etc so I use it during the day as it can get quite intense. I got a fragrance oil kit from Amazon as well and lemongrass is my favourite.

I might tip a few drops of my new room spray into it but I'm scared of damaging it!

Nanna50 · 12/08/2017 09:21

I have scentsy wax burners and the smell lasts and they look good too but not cheap. But Waitrose have the glade one for less than £3 (usually £6) which does a similar job. Plug in is safer than candles and can be left on but you need to keep replacing the wax and this varies in price and some smells fade fast.

Changing the wax can get messy so pour it into a small disposable packet quickly while it is still warm and wipe the plate with a paper towel.
