Talk to me about rotary dryer please

Our garden will finally be done in a week and I would really like to get a rotary dryer. Currently our clothes dry on a very old clothes horse, which lives in our kitchen diner and goes out when the weather is good. It just about holds one washing.. which is too less for our family of 4.

I really have my mind set on the Brabantia range of rotary dryer.
I cannot decide whether I should get the 40m or the 50m?
Also, do you dry clothes outside if you work full time?? It may sound like a silly question, but I would be stressing at work if the clothes were out in the rain and I was at work not being able to do anything about it Shock
Does anyone have ones of these covers and do they really keep the clothes dry through the year??

TIA :)

I can't help with rotary washing line as mine is a straight fixed line but I do work full time and put my washing out when at work. If it rains, it rains, I can't do much about it and just deal with the wet washing when I get home. Chances are, if it's only a shower, then the washing will still be dry when you get home anyway!

You should worry more about getting darked on and spider willies tbh!

I have the brabantia wall fix. It holds 2 loads of washing easily and folds flat against the wall for neat storage

Don't think rotary dryers are as good as lines but it's what I've got. I've never had one of those covers though

mellongoose · 07/08/2017 10:11

The cover looks like it would just contain all the evaporated water and the washing would stay wet on a warm day Confused. Think I'll take my chances with the British summer and deal with wet washing when needed :)

Wow I was just thinking a few days ago it would be a good idea if you could get something like that I didn't know that they actually existed lol.
I love drying clothes outside they feel so much fresher.
I recently bought this
www.argos.co.uk/product/4538406
And it's great for me, very sturdy, holds more than two loads, I find it quite big, and low enough for me. So a 50m one would be huge.
Look at the measurements of the one you like as they can dominate your garden.

MumNeedsTea · 07/08/2017 15:46

MrsQuim I didn't even think of that! Shock
Will have a look at the wall one too.

Notinyournelly thanks for that... Maybe 40m will be enough.
Let me know if you do end up buying the cover :)

mumneedstea I have one of those covers and it's great not having to get up when it looks like rain is on the way. If you look very somewhere really windy though it does become about of a sail.
They do one that fits on the wall mounted rotary lines...

I'm watching with interest! I've always had a long fixed line across the garden but I've just moved to a house that used a rotary dryer.
My mil has a rotary, which I've used a couple of times, and didn't really get along with so I'm not jumping at buying one but I need to sort something soon! There's not really anywhere to fix a washing line to, or else I'd have done it immediately.
The more sturdy looking rotary cost up to £100 which I'm not really loving either!!

I've always had a rotary drier in the garden. There's never been a problem drying clothes.
I currently have the Brabantia 40 cms. They are designed to spin in the breeze and efficiently dry the washing, whilst taking up little space, are easily removed and stored, so don't spoil the garden.
As for rain, if the weather forecast is for rain, I don't put the clothes out.

didIreallysaythat thanks for the feedback! I have decided to buy the free standing 40m one as opposed to the wall fixed one. So will get a cover to fit the 40m one :)
