My Henry the bastard hoover has given up the ghost after only two years . So I'm off to get a new one this weekend, dont want to make another mistake (Henry was vile), so i've been looking online at Miele cylinders, anyone got one? Would you recommend them?

Sebo cylinder lover here too. Hate Miele personally. I work as a professional cleaner and have made a decision to not work with clients that have a Miele. (I used to take my 13 year old Sebo to use instead, but got tired of taking my lovely machine and putting extra wear on it in other people's homes. I have actually cancelled 2 clients recently with Miele's for this reason as my main deciding factor.)
Miele has very strong suction but are physically hard work on carpets and not good for picking up long (human) hair in my opinion and experience.
My Sebo has a motorized head, which the Miele's I have experienced do not have.

Please check Miele shocking reviews on trustpilot

I've got the cat and dog one. I can't remember how long I've had it, maybe about 4 years., but I'm very happy with it. It cleans well (including pet hairs) and is pretty easy to carry around the house.

Wait till you need it servicing or it goes wrong!

purplegreen99 · 19/06/2018 13:29

pekoran that's interesting, I didn't know they had a bad reputation. I haven't found mine difficult to use at all. I bought the extended warranty from John Lewis, which I think lasts 4 years in total. The warranty must be just about up now, but tbh my old Dyson almost caught fire (smoke coming out and partly melted when I switched it off), and was much heavier and harder to use and only lasted around 3 or 4 years, so perhaps I have low expectations!

If you have any queries just google trustpilot reviews Miele. Quality of service and appliances really gone down....or just try telephoning Miele I’ll be surprised if you get through quickly

Mines lasted around 12 yrs. And we have really used it.

I posted on this thread last year to say how much I loved my Miele bagless. Suction is still excellent but omg the very worst, couldn't care less customer service I have ever experienced. Do not purchase Miele. I bought mine just under a year ago, suction is excellent but the clips on the pole snapped- I should have returned it at that point but didn't- then the handle cracked and that's where my 'fun' started. Miele will absolutely not replace the broken parts, apparently only the motor is covered by warranty and as it's a 'new' vacuum it should not have broken- so somehow that is my fault and not Miele's?? They were looking for €130 for the handle alone!! So I now have a handle from my mum's old Miele but I could not get over just how terrible their customer service was.

Told you so!

I have a Miele with with a powered head and a Sebo. Both are good but the `Miele wins on weight and manouverability.

On the whole I rate most Miele products. They are expensive but effective and long lived. Which is lucky because as PPs have said, the aftercare is appalling. Expensive and inefficient. It once took 5 weeks, over 10 phone calls and two recorded delivery letters for a vacuum to be collected for the ‘gold star’ repair service. In the end the CEO stepped in and arranged for a free replacement - that’s how bad it had been up until then.

You have been warned!

Rafflesway · 25/06/2018 10:39

I'm with Pekoran!

I have had 2 Miele cylinders over the years. My main gripe was the filters which seemed to constantly want replacing and cost a flaming packet. ☹️

I have now had a Morphy Richards cordless 2 in 1 for almost 2 years now, (Washable filter.) Took a while to get used to it but we are big buddies now. Smile
Bought a GTech Pro a couple of months ago as I fancied an "Upgrade". Returned it after a few weeks - and 2 batteries - kept letting me down.
