OOhh this was me a few weeks ago, if you go to a Pets at Home store they do a cleaner which is especially for sick/poo/etc does it a treat! can use it on carpets and all sorts.

No smell at all

TooTicky · 28/03/2007 10:37

bicarb - sprinkle it on, leave it for a bit, then hoover off. And NEVER use Febreze because it is very unhealthy.

babalon · 28/03/2007 10:39

tooticky - why is fabreze unhealthy, shall I throw it out?

what hillary said

those cleaners 'digest' the sick and get rid of it properly, rather than masking the stench

works a treat

TooTicky · 28/03/2007 11:17

Febreze contains chemicals which then get breathed in. It can cause headaches and allergic reactions. Best avoided, particularly around children. It is bad for animals too.

BettySpaghetti · 28/03/2007 11:19

Definitely use bicarb as TooTicky said -we had a "sick incident" a while ago and it got rid of the smell !

babalon · 28/03/2007 12:51

thanks tooticky I didn't know that it's now in the bin!

I'm trying the bicarb option first seeing as it's cheaper so fingers crossed that will do the trick

thanks all for your help

My mum puts half an onion in the room to get rid of sick smell. You need to be able to ventilate the area too or you swap sick for onion, but it does seem to work.
