Cancelling online order

I ordered a washer online but have now changed my mind and don't need it (been given one). I contacted the company who have already taken the money from my credit card (fair enough) to ask them to cancel and refund. I ordered less than 48 hours ago.

They say their t&c say the contract is legally binding and the goods are on their way. What can I do? Do I have to take delivery of it? Their t&c also state a £50 fee to re-collect if it's not wanted so I can imagine me having to take delivery, pay £50 to get it taken away and then fight for a refund. Aarrghhhh!!

I've Googled Distance Selling Regs but just keep reading lots of conflicting advice and template letters seem to be to cancel services, not goods.

Can anyone help me please? Thank you

I would refuse delivery but I don't know how legal that would be!

I thought of that but I don't fancy doing it to be honest. Might incur even more charges! Really hope I can just avoid it being sent in the first place.

Delivery was quoted as between 5-7 days so not agreed as yet.

Hopeful bump. Third party delivery people rang me to say delivery Friday and I said I'd cancelled the order. They said "no problem".

I've emailed again asking for a refund but they're ignoring me.

What now?

And yes, I'm an idiot. I know Grin

They should refund you as you don't have the goods (they'll probably never know that you refused to take it!). If they don't, your credit card provider should reimburse you.
