Well after 10 years the hoover as finally gave up so on the hunt for a new one.
OH fancies cordless using the theory it will be easier for me to carry up to the top floor :-) I'm unsure that such a lightweight little thing will suffice.
We have three carpet rooms on the top floor with cream thick pile carpets (what were I thinking) and two carpet rooms on the middle floor.
Currently we have an elderly labrador that can barely walk but we even though no shoes are wore on the other two floors (only slippers or bare feet) we still find a few dog hairs upstairs.
Next dog we are hoping for one that doesn't shed quite as much.
Current hoover was a dyson animal.
Can anyone rec ommend a new reliable hoover that wont be a nightmare carrying up and down.
Thanks

We have one of the cordless dysons - V8 something I think. Anyhoo, it is fab! Haven't had the main vacuum out the cupboard for over 2 months now and the floors are cleaner 😁 Perfectly suitable!
Do get it fixed so it's permanently on charge though, much easier. Ours isn't yet, but that's us - not an issue really.

HI we also bought a Dyson V8 animal and it's absolutely brilliant - I would definitely recommend. It's cordless and really easy to use plus you can use it as a small hand held cleaner (by taking the long pole off) so can use in your car or whatever. It's nice and light to carry roundI too. It has about 40 mins of charge time which should be enough for most houses unless you have it on turbo it only lasts about seven mins I think. It's really easy to empty and you don't have to put your hand in to get any dirt out (like some bagless ones.)
We were going to buy the Absolute version but it worked out cheaper to get the Animal then buy the Absolute soft roller attachment separately.

This doesn't quite answer your question but a friend of mine has two Hoovers- one for upstairs, one for downstairs. She says she doesn't have to carry it up and down and she's more likely to do the hoovering

The cordless ones are fine for quick pick ups but don't generate a lot of suction or groom the carpet like a full sized upright. The charge doesn't last long enough for a deep clean either.
I can highly recommend Sebo vacuums. Ours is over 20 years old now and still works like new. Tried to replace it twice, once with a Dyson and once with a Miele but neither were as good as the trusty old Sebo.
The X4 comes with a long hose for cleaning stairs too so just leave the vacuum at the bottom.

Hi, the Dyson V8 do you all manage to get everywhere hoovered on a full charge?
How long do they take to charge?
Thanks

The G tech Air Ram= Awesome
The K9 version is what we have, it's brilliant

Dyson V8 takes about three hours to charge nut can generally do the whole house in one go.
