I want to buy a new hoover

What should I buy?

The house is very small (1 double bedroom, 1 box room, kitchen, living room, bathroom, hall, stairs, landing), and there are only two of us and no pets carpeted throughout save kitchen and bathroom.

Can't really afford a Dyson, used a Gtech Air Ram at an airbnb and really liked it but it is pretty pricey too.

Robo hoovers weird me out and I'm not sure it would work with my rugs and clutter

Is it worth trying 2nd hand? Although out last hoover was second hand and smells like a sad dog....

Please help, I am rubbish at housework and have never bought a new hoover before!

What's your budget. I recently bought a Sebo and it's a revelation, but not cheap.

We just got a Shark. It's awesome. Much better than previous Dyson and Meile. Cost £250 so quite a lot but not as much as others. Also has a 30 day satisfaction guarantee and you can pay in instalments so at least you can try it first. Love how it comes apart easily. I got mine direct from the shark website.

I have a Kenmore Vacuum Cleaner - 78423 which I bought online and it works fine for me. I got it for about 54 pounds. No complains so far.

I bought a Sebo a few years ago on mumsnet recommendation. It's wonderful!

It is, however, big and heavy. Was about £250 toobut so worth it.

Maybe a cylinder Sebo as you don't have so many rooms?

I think £200 would be our upper limit but I would really prefer to spend less if possible.

I liked the Gtech because it was so light, I hate hoofing super heavy hoover about.

After using loads of different brands in the past I would only ever buy Miele now. I just love them. Mine is one of the cheaper ones but I find it brilliant

I'd get a Dyson V6, on offer at Currys at the moment. I bought one as back up for main Henry. But use it most of the time in 3 bed house.

JT05 · 19/07/2017 16:56

Meant to say V6 cordless, rechargeable.

Love my Sebo. Had it for for years. It is an upright and the changing of bags is absolutely clean and easy. It cleans stairs well. They are not cheap but if you can afford it I would recommend Sebo who are still at the top of the Which list.

We have an athlet Bosch in our cottage i.e. 2 up 2 down... battery charge is plenty long enough and it has good suction( dogs) ,it's very light and easy to wield... highly recommend so far but as less than a year old not able to speak as to longevity.
