If I hate housework, would an hour a day be enough?

It's not so much that I hate housework, more that I'm rubbish at starting it and even more rubbish at finishing it!
But I've let things slide.
Can anyone direct me to a good daily check list, with maybe a job of the day?
Flylady looks a little too intense for me
I think i need to get into the habit of doing a little often rather than nothing nothing nothing,, then try to blitz the house and give up!
The kitchen is normally good as DH and I take turns to cook and the other one washes up.
4 bed house, 2 adults no pets

Depending on what you are including as 'housework'... I can honestly say I've never spent an hour every day doing housework, so with no dc in the equation, that sounds like it would be a massive over estimation of what is needed.

I'm glad to hear it!
I just need to get into a habit of doing something every day rather than leaving it until I can't stand it any more.
It's surprising how decent a house can still look when neglected!

I think you need a rota. Even if you write one up yourself or get one from google.

Mondays - mirrors, windows (if needed) light switches, shower door

Tuesday - hoover (under beds under sofas if needed)

Wednesday - wash bed linen, ironing etc

That type of rota could work - though I cant imagine it gets too messy / dirty

I've always kept a cloth and spray in the bathroom and another one in the downstairs toilet - so just give a wipe round when in there and notice a mark /toothpaste / hair in sink / dust / whatever..... it's not like 'a job' then, but is done as often as is needed. Same with kitchen, I will give the hob a quick clean whilst waiting for kettle to boil / load dishwasher directly as I empty a saucepan when serving up, or as I clear plate from table rather than piling stuff up on the side and creating a separate job when there needn't be one.

Similar problem here, I'd recommend the Flylady "home blessing hour". Pick about 6 jobs that can be done in 10mins each if you really push yourself. Flylady has her own but mine are hoover downstairs, wipe kitchen floor with floorwipes, quick bathroom blitz, empty bins, dust living room, downstairs loo. Then once a week clear back to make the house "cleaner ready" - this is the toughest bit for me - and then the next morning do your cleaning hour. It's not perfect but if you can do it every week it really does help.

Apartment therapy's how to clean your house in 20/30 mins a day (I forget which) is good too. It has a monthly list. However IMO really it all comes down to disciplining yourself to spend more time cleaning, and picking up random mess, than I currently do!

Yes an hour should be plenty. I usually like to concerntrate on upstairs one day, so Polish, Hoover bedrooms and clean bathroom. And just tidy downstairs, wash pots, wipe sides.
Next day concerntrate More on downstairs, polish and Hoover etc. And just tidy upstairs, make beds.
Never takes too long then and always looks clean and tidy.

I do each room thoroughly once a week and then mini clean as needed e.g. after shower wipe round basin/check loo, tidy kitchen whilst waiting for veg to cook etc. So my routine is kitchen - Wednesday, bedroom (suggest you shut unused ones off in a tidy state), stairs, landing - Thursday, living rooms - Friday and bathroom - Saturday. Have done this for years before work. Agree it helps a huge amount if you get into the routine of tidying as you go then the cleaning is just that and much less daunting.
