To tumble dry or to not tumble dry?

That is the question.

I realllllllly want a drier but I don't know where to put one.

I have a large kitchen but no space for a drier.
I have a utility area/office/conservatory type room which I could use but nowhere with a plug that would mean it's out of the way.
I have a second living are which is rarely used but it is open plan to the main living area.
We use the spare bedroom as a dressing room (clothes on rails not wardrobes) which has space and is above the second living area but would it get damp up there?

I could rearrange the utility area/office but I think it would look a bit shit.

Which would you go with or do you have any other suggestions?

I would say the utility area, it seems the most logical place if there is no space in the kitchen. Perhaps you can use an cable extension (or however they are called) to get to the plug?
Ideally you need it next to the washing machine. Are you sure it can't be fitted in the kitchen by replacing one of the cabinets?

How about clothes horse(s) and a dehumidifier in your spare room/dressing room? That's what we do and the dehumidifier warms the air a bit and keeps the walls nice and dry. Dehimidifer will work in any enclosed room (suggest not using it in the open plan space as it will have to work a lot harder!)

Utility room. They are not heavy so can stacked or even put on a counter top.

You could get a combination washer/drier.

This current tumble is the only one that I've had in the house, all my others were either in the shed or the garage.

Some great ideas thank you.

I'm toying with switching the utility and office area around. It will mean that it's a bit further from the washing machine but only the same distance as pegging out.

I hadn't thought of the dehumidifier. How long do your clothes take to dry?

It is a lot slower than a tumble dryer - we usually shut them in the spare room overnight and everything except really thick swatshirts will be dry in the mornnig. But with a smallish dehumidifier we can do 2-3 loads of washing in one go, the limiting factor is haivng enough clothes horses!

Just the worlds most boring update.

I have a beautiful new dryer (spelling it correctly for a change).

I decided to rearrange the utility area and it looks perfectly fine :)

It was supposed to rain today but it hasn't, I find that rather disappointing now I have a pretty alternative to my rotary!! Grin
