Decluttering your house

Hi how do you all decluttering?

Are you ruthless and just throw out stuff or sell?

I am on maternity leave so I would rather see if I can sell - It's not practical to do car boot sales with 4 month old and 20 month old so I started selling online using Shpock, gumtree, Facebook marketplace... it's all very slow.

Has anybody got any tips please?

Any tips of getting rid of clothes without giving to charity?

I need to make cash with stuff I don't use around the house

I house clear and declutter as a hobby my advice is carboots get rid of alot in one go. In my opinion the only items that sell on Facebook etc are really desirable middle of the road branded items like Joules Boden not high end Like Ralph Lauren. If you want cash for clothes use a weighing in service although that is rock bottom prices for your clothes.

Yeah I was thinking cash for clothes but yeah they give you very little money for amount of clothes.

Think I will try selling dresses in bundles, coats in bundles, jeans in bundles, tops, jumpers etc.

See what sells hey and keep whatever doesn't I suppose at least I am decluttering hahaha

Need to lose weight but doubt I will get into my pre-pregnancy clothes so I should just sell what I can

Around here - Gloucestershire bundles don't tend to go I pay £10 per bag of clean saleable clothes. It's an absolute nightmare getting rid of clothes hence why I don't deal in children’s or men's they don't go but women's now that is a different matter 😜

CD you not leave your children with someone for a Sunday morning you'll get most gone in a matter of hours and the rest you can charity or cash 4 clothes it x

Can you club together with a friend? Get childcare for your eldest, baby in the sling, you and mate blitz the carboot, job's a good'un? 4 month olds are portable, it's going to be harder with a crawler...

Upanddownroundandround · 27/06/2017 17:39

It is kinda one or the other I think. You either declutter and take it all to the charity shop or tip, or you bag it up for boot fairs or sell it online. But that will not declutter your home for months as it does take time. Which do you want most? The money from the sale or a decluttered house?

BusyBee2017 · 27/06/2017 18:35

Yeah true a baby is portable and is okay in a sling or car seat heheh ... I might let my elder son have a sleep over at my in laws or my folks .. see how he gets on and then me and my husband do a car boot with the baby

Yeah true selling online takes time.. I will have to do a car boot when DH comes back from Cuba!! And weather gets better. Thanks everybody

Hi op I have OCD but multiple health issues so my house has really took the hit.

I have been looking on YouTube and have found a brilliant channel called "clutter bug" and she is amazing, she's a Canadian mum of 3 who is really amazing at organising, decluttering and cleaning with minimal effort! I'm hooked.

I have older dc, 6 and 14 and have given myself until the start of the school summer holidays to have the house in tip top condition. Happy to join you here for support :)

Thank you everybody for your responses.

I have been shpocking a lot of stuff...since I joined last year I have made almost £700.....still got a lot of stuff to clear...
One lady even came and bought two bags of my clothes for £45 And later messaged me saying she will take all my clothes once i have taken it out the loft for an agreed price...

I was very happy

Even sold a unisex baby clothes bundle for £25 Yeah....and loads of people enquired about the unisex bundle
