Right - I'm sick of towels and bedding

I'm having a clear out, it takes up vast quantities of space and we only ever use the ones on the top of the pile and they never, ever wear out anyway. I've got textiles stashed everywhere - in airing cupboard, in wicker basket, in other cupboard, in suitcase in basement. How the *k did I accumulate so many sodding textiles?

I know what you mean - we seem to have a lot of towels, but most of them are really really old (like 2 of DH's from when he was at school - they've got his name sewed on them, and he's 41 now). I just worry that if I get rid of some of them, we'll have a flood or something. I should have more faith, shouldn't I?

im needing some white tablecloths if you are throwing some out............

VoluptuaGoodshag · 21/03/2007 16:32

No tablecloths here, sorry. Just acres of bedding and towels. Anyone any ideas what I could do with them? Do charity shops take such items?

i certainly wouldnt buy second hand sheets or towels

JackieNo · 21/03/2007 16:35

I'd guess it would depend on what sort of state they were in - bedding I'd reckon they might well take, not sure about towels. Do you have any sort of pet rescue place near you? They might be able to use old towels?

SecondhandRose · 21/03/2007 16:37

Take old towels to the vet, they appreciate them for poorly animals.

nailpolish · 21/03/2007 16:38

recycle places have bins for recycling old fabrics/clothes etc

Bubbaloo · 21/03/2007 21:24

I also had loads of spares recently after clering out my airing cupboard.I put them on Freecycle and they went like gold dust-the towels and flannels actually went to an animal rescue centre and the bedding and curtains ended up going to someone who was setting up their first home.

NannyL · 22/03/2007 18:29

I always bought my 'dogs towels' from charity shops so DO donate them!

she had LOADS of towels

glassslipper · 23/03/2007 09:06

lol. me too.

freecycle it. someone will take the stuff you dont want.

I was thinking about sheets in the shower this morning.

Surely I don't need more than two changes per bed ?

Might have to have a chunking session.

JackieNo · 28/03/2007 13:15

According to something (possibly the White Company, who obviously have a vested interest in our buying lots of bedding) it's one set on the bed, one in the wash, and one in the cupboard, so I'd say that 2's probably realistic (except possibly for very young kids and babies if they're inclined to be sick a lot).

BabiesEverywhere · 28/03/2007 13:37

So what are the nicest sheets you can buy...the white company ?

I have decided I nam going to save up and buy two nice sets of sheets and chuck my old stuff ?

JackieNo · 28/03/2007 13:42

Have to say, I like White Company stuff (see if they have anything in the sale online). But it's all personal taste, obviously. John Lewis have some nice stuff too.
