Bathroom cleaning hacks please!

I'm looking for hacks for cleaning our frankly disgusting bathroom. It is fully tiled so there's a lot of grouting, which isn't too dirty but could do with a shine up. The worst part is the shower cubicle, I need something effective to clean the glass doors (deep clean and then ongoing) and the horrible brown stains on the shower tray. I've tried the standard Flash / Cilit Bang type products but they're not shifting. I remember reading something about leaving bleach on toilet roll overnight?!

Cif cream for shower tray. Amazing stuff.

Magic Eraser the whole thing! It will bring it up like new

AfunaMbatata · 15/06/2017 23:46

I agree with above poster, -magic sponge all the way!

Harpic is your friend for hard water staining bathroom grot. Not always safe some metal finishes, although standard ones OK. Rubber gloves.
Use with scourer to got shower screen clean. On basins, and silicone seals. Will stain grout.
Rinse copiously.
Test small areas first.

Vyakal cleaning spray, and citric acid for the toilet.

For the magic eraser option, do I still wet it through? (And how wet?)

And just normal Harpic? (Vs limescale remover or the power plus ones?)

For cleaning the grout in the shower I use undiluted Milton. I use a toothbrush to work it in but don't have to scrub hard - ours were filthy and it brought them up like new.

donajimena · 16/06/2017 16:15

Just wet it and squeeze as dry as you can.

wowfudge · 16/06/2017 19:39

Milton is just mild (diluted) bleach.

DancingLedge · 17/06/2017 22:06

Limescale remover Harpic

Do you use anything with the magic sponge or just the sponge itself? And are they one-time use?

I have a stack of them that I bought in a fit of inspiration a while back but they're languishing unloved in the supply cupboard.

Don't want to derail the thread, but will the magic eraser work on scuff marks? E.g. from shoes on the wall next to the shoe shelf and dining room chairs scraping on matt painted walls?

DancingLedge · 18/06/2017 17:47

Eraser usually brilliant in those situations.

OculusReparo · 19/06/2017 10:28

Great! Which supermarket can I buy magic erasers from? Smile

OculusReparo · 19/06/2017 10:29

And will it change the colour on the walls? 🤔

wowfudge · 19/06/2017 14:40

They can leave a white residue so just wipe down the wall with a damp cloth afterwards. Any decent supermarket will have them. Also pound shops.

Oculus - be careful with magic eraser on painted walls - too much vigorous scrubbing took my paint off! Try going in very gently first.

Oliack1417 · 19/06/2017 23:04

I bought my magic erasers from amazon, lots cheaper..

emsyj37 · 21/06/2017 14:38

My hottest bathroom tip is to pull off your shower door seals and buy new ones. They cost a few quid. I discovered this by framtically googling how to clean the green gunk off a virtually inaccessible area of seal and I wish someone had told me years ago! You can just pull them off.
Bar Keepers Friend is good for bathrooms. I like Stardrops for day to day - no lingering chemical smells.
