Hello anyone able to help me with our issue- we've got some gorgeous Lillie's but unfortunately one dropped on the floor and stained it, my other half got to it first and rubbed it in!! Now there's just yellow marks- anyone got any tips?

Do not wet it whatever you do. Use sellotape to pick up the pollen. Give it a few goes over. If that doesn't work and it is somewhere where sunlight will get at it, that will fade it away over time.

I got some on my carpet and curtain, I washed the curtains, they needed doing anyway and wiped the carpet with one of those kitchen wipes, it all came out.

For the future, cut off the stamens which carry the pollen
www.proflowers.com/blog/keeping-lilies-fresh but if the worst happens, do as a PP says and pick up fallen pollen with sellotape.

Too late now if it's been rubbed in, but you don't say what kind of surface it's damaged? is it carpet, if so what's the carpet made of, or is it some other floor covering?

It's a good idea to remove the pollen as the flowers open, but please do it by hand rather than cutting the stamens off or at least don't cut the end off the stigma as well (the longest bit in the middle), that gives the lilies a horrible chopped off look. Former florist here.

I pull the dusty bits off with tongs

Kitchen cleaner with bleach, if that's safe to use on your floor. Shifted lily pollen stains from white paintwork for me last week - and I'd already scrubbed with water to no avail.

Unfortunately my partner got there before me and rubbed it in :( it's a carpet, not sure what it's made of, nothing special just fairly normal carpet :/

Hopefully the rubbing in didn't involve anything wet. Try sellotape or a sticky lint remover roller, it will help.

If the carpet is wool you have to be quite careful I think, if the carpet is not wool it should clean easier, I didn't know about lilies staining and when I saw the yellow on our quite old carpet I just rubbed it with one of those kitchen wet wipes and it came off.

Hydrogen peroxide should work. Dab it on with a qtip. But try it on a hidden area of carpet first. Unless it's a very pale carpet it will bleach the colour.

No help now, but as said up thread, sellotape is the best

Good luck! Have had this myself many years ago but eventually sorted it fine.

Someone has previously mentioned Miltons sterilising liquid, I have just tried this and it has worked - thanks so much
