Smelly washing won't un-smell, what else to try?

I put a load of dark washing on a month or so ago, and must have left it sitting in the washing machine for a day once washed, which made it go a bit smelly. I re washed it at the time. But certain items, the bigger thicker ones like jeans, STILL smell now, every time I wash them. It's a musty moldy sweaty smell. I can still smell it on the dried items. It's driving me nuts. I've re washed on as hot as I dare but this is only at 40.
What's going on, and what will get rid of the smell? Yuk!! Help!

When I have used the liquid this happens to me. In the beginning its ok but then after a week or so the smell builds up.

Buy powder and before that out your machine in a cleanse wash of its own. 90 degrees with zoflora/bleach/vinegar

Halo is good for sports stuff. You can order it from Wiggle

But if the clothes are unwearably smelly, surely you've got nothing to lose by hot washing. They're as good as ruined anyway, so take a chance on saving them. Everything apart from woollens will be fine at 60, and anything cotton (jeans, unprinted t-shirts) will survive at 90.

Also, dry them outside on a sunny day.

I use Dettol laundry cleanser. Here

It kills bacteria, I use it in all my washes, it does completely fill the fabric softner bit but I add in a bit of Comfort Pure. You can wash as low as 30 with it.

I have used this for a while. I think it helps a lot with gym clothes that can stay sweaty smelling because all the bacteria doesn't get killed with my normal wash.

Try it, it smells nice too.

Qipuick update: washed it all again, on 60, with white vinegar and Daz. Then put on line for a few hours. Bingo, no smell.
Thanks ladies! Xx

Oh, excellent, that must be such a relief! Thanks for updating, now I can sleep soundly tonight knowing that a mumsnetter no longer has smelly laundry ;)
