Brand new washing machine F05 error code

Keep getting the F05 error code of doom on the brand new (Hotpoint) washing machine. Have done all usual troubleshooting checks - filter checked, pump checked, no blanked spigots, no kinked hoses, everything level, no blockages in the receiving waste pipe that we can see.
Absolutely stumped. Any ideas?

Mine did this, it could not pump out as the waste connection to the connection under the sink was too low compared to the bit attached to the washing machine. I had to twist the connection under the sink higher. Not sure that made much sense but I hope it helps. Then hotpoint help line was very helpful.

Thanks Brownies. I'll give this a go. I wonder if Hotpoint has changed its positioning of things like this? New machine is a straight swap for old one.

Oooo - just thought, another piece of info. It seems to have trouble filling. Takes ages to think about it, then starts filling, drum rotates what looks like dry clothes and not long after, the damned thing starts flashing the error code. Water pressure is fine.

Have you looked in the manual or Hotpoint website to see what the F05 fault code means?

whitehandledkitchenknife · 05/06/2017 23:31

Certainly have PersianCat. That's the only reason I now know the words 'blanked spigots' Grin.

PS have watched a washing machine load of youtube videos too.

A blanked spigot means there's a cap somewhere that's stopping water from getting through. Did you have the old machine disconnected for any time before the new one was fitted and were you using the sink the washing machine waste feeds into, etc? I'm wondering if the washing machine waste bit was blanked off (to stop water leaking out of the pipework) and the new machine waste pipe has been fitted to the blank rather than the open pipe.

Alternatively, have the transit bolts on the back of the machine been removed? They stop the drum from moving while the machine is being shipped around to prevent damage to it.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone. We tried the hose raising bit Brownies. The cycle got further than previously and soapy water flushed into the sink, but then the code of doom appeared.
Wow, it was a straight swap, one in, one out, for previous machine and we followed the installation instructions to the letter. The transition bolts in the back of the machine were a new thing for us, as previously there was a transition bar inside the machine across the brick thing that had to be removed. Now.....there is still a bar across the brick......but no instruction to remove it. Hmmmmmmmm.
Husband contacting Hotpoint this morning.

Hotpoint (and indesit) appliances are terrible, as is their customer service. If you get the chance for a refund I would advise you to do so and buy a different brand or these issues may well be ongoing for years to come (bitter experience)

Letmesleepalready · 06/06/2017 10:21

We had F05 and the issue was I overloaded the machine (too many heavy towels)

It is funny how when things go wrong, you learn so much about them.

When my boiler played up I found out all about the error codes.

When my neighbour said to me one day that their boiler wasn't working, I said show me it.

They were amazed when I knew what the error code meant and how to get it working again.

All sorted for now. Hotpoint came out this morning!!!
Faulty pressure switch. Not exactly confidence inspiring. Had Hotpoints for decades- no problem. We shall see.
In other news Hotpoint chap noticed that the tumble dryer is on the naughty list for repair/replacement. As it's 12 years old- I think we'll go with replacement for £100.
Yes Persian the YouTube videos are a source of highly specific education Smile
Thank you all Flowers
