Have you ever cleaned mould off shower tile grout?

And if so, what did you use? Our shower is really revolting. I usually use Cif and it's reasonably but not completely effective so I have years worth of black, brown and red mould on the grout. I want to clean it and then have them re grouted with a darker grout, or find another solution that I am am not constantly scrubbing the shower. Any tips??

HG mould spray!

butterfly990 · 27/05/2017 17:56

Instead of tiles these days you can put panels behind your shower, bath so no more grout lines.

The one below do sheets of glass, granite etc as well as mosaics.

HG.

(I'm not on commission.)

BarchesterFlowers · 27/05/2017 18:35

HG here too, old house, not enough ventilation (some of the windows are painted shut). Dettol mould remover doesn't touch it, HG works within 60 mins and everything is gleaming white.

I would love those panels....maybe in my next house Grin in the meantime I will try HG.

Another vote for HG. I think I've got the whole range now!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 03/06/2017 15:04

using a toothbrush makes my hand/fingers sore.
Get one of these brushes:

Another vote for HG Spray and this brush is also very good.

Flash kitchen spray with bleach, it's foamy and sticks to the tiles better. Spray and leave for 30 mins and repeat on stubborn bits.

CowParsleyNettle · 03/06/2017 15:53

Dettol mould and mildew remover. Spray and leave on for hours

This! Makes the house smell like an old fashioned swimming pool and will ruin clothing but by god it's good!

AVeryBigHouse · 05/06/2017 13:46

HG mould spray. Make sure you don't breathe when applying it, open the windows and run! Grin.

weegiemum · 05/06/2017 15:28

baking soda, white vinegar and a firm toothbrush!

voobylooby · 05/06/2017 15:34

Basking soda+bleach +toothbrush here. Definitely a windows open job!

Our bathroom has no window! And it goes out into the hallway which has no windows either. Is it still safe for me to use?

onesilencetoofar · 05/06/2017 15:39

HG is the only thing that works for my tiles.

RhythmAndStealth · 05/06/2017 15:58

Astonish mound cleaner and an old toothbrush

MissT2095 · 05/06/2017 16:03

Bleach mixed with bicarbonate of soda.

Make paste and leave for an hour or so

Bluebell9 · 05/06/2017 16:10

I used the Cilit Bang Mould remover. Its great and you don't need to scrub. Its the one in the black bottle.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/06/2017 16:23

I use a product from the US called Barkeeper's Friend. It was suggested by a friend and it is made of (so I'm told) rhubarb (oxalic acid). It smells a bit, but not that awful chlorine smell and it is great for soap scum too.

TheVeryThing · 07/06/2017 12:06

another vote for HG, no toothbrush or scrubbing required!
