Of all the jobs I hate this one the most!

So my house is reasonably clean and tidy but my oven is like that closet Monica (from Friends) had, but maybe worse. It's last clean was 3 years ago. I've had the box of oven pride and a new pack of gloves for 2 weeks. Can't make myself do this! I keep alternating between thinking I'll get it going one night before bed. Then night comes around and I think about how I really don't want to wake up to a kitchen that smells of oven cleaner. So then I decide I'll do it one Saturday, but then Saturday comes and I think about how I don't want to lose access to the oven for the whole day, and again the thought of the smell is off putting. This is the only area of the home where I let myself down. I know I'll feel so good once I get it done. I'm really intending to do it today. Am I alone in having a block like this?

happy I took the shelves out but cant remember for sure if I unscrewed the rungs they slot into. I think we did as I recall there was a lot of faffing afterwards putting stuff back.

The smell was hot metal and carbon. It was absolutely awful.

We paid £65 to have our oven professionally cleaned. They did the whole oven, racks, grill pan, hob & extractor. It looked like brand new. Now all I have to do is give it a spray and wipe out once a week with regular kitchen spray, takes 5 minutes.

Damn, my oven does not have a self cleaning function, but thanks Happydays. It motivated me to dig out the old instructions. It has a defrost setting, which I did not know, and what I thought was only a separate grill is also a mini oven - good to know! I will now be looking for a local oven cleaner!

Crow if I were you I would call the manufacturer of you oven, maybe it was because it was the first time the oven got so hot or maybe your is faulty. Self cleaning ovens are amazing and as said by others once you get used to never having to think about oven maintenance it's hard to imagine going back.

It is the only one of my household tasks that I would get a professional in to do. It is just such a horrific job otherwise that you absolutely couldn't pay me to do it myself.

£60 or £70 that is money really well spent.

My oven is brand new

However, I would pay any amount if I could afford it to never iron again. HATE.

HappydaysArehere · 18/05/2017 09:38

Koala I also loath ironing with a vengence so guess what! I don't do it.

I had to do it when dh needed shirts for work but most things these days do not need it. I just hang things up. My aunty was moaning about ironing but she has copied me and now she doesn't iron.
