Febreeze a duvet?

I have aunt and uncle staying at weekend and so trying to freshen up the spare room. Have washed the bedlinen even though it was clean to make it smell freshly washed but now I think the duvet smells a bit stale (if a duvet can smell stale!!) too. Have thought about buying some Febreeze and spraying that on it but having never used it I'm not sure if that is a good idea or not!!!

Any advice welcome!!!

Oh god please don't do that! The cushions in my rented flat have been febreezed and the smell is hideous. Would be even worse for a duvet where you can't get away from the stench all night.

if you can, put the duvet outside in the sun for an hour.

urghh no! Febreeze is horrible

Just whang it over the washing line for a couple of hours and let it air in the sun

No! That stuff stinks. Put it outside for an hour or two, preferably on the washing line. Or whack it in the tumble dryer.

Probably not enough time now but you can usually wash duvets.
I took our king size one to the launderette because it wouldn't fit in our washing machine and they have giant machines there. I do them about once a year.
Fix for now - hang it outside on the washing line for a few hours and beat it.

No, I wouldn't. Only bought some once, never again! Very perfumed from what I remember. Trying to sleep in something heavily perfumed would make my breathing play up and could do the same to them.
My duvets wash ok and tumble but yours could be different, have you found a label. You could just but in outside like others have suggested.

You can buy duvets for about a tenner in the supermarkets now. Why would you want to hold on to a duver that smells off - and don't try and mask it by using that horrible Febreeze stuff.

Hang it on the line or out the window to let it air for a bit that should freshen it up.
