Ah thanks Staceym11, it got really bad tbh, and I'm a trainee counsellor, I think because part of our training involves a lot of personal therapy and also have had a recent tragic bereavement of an ex. I basically shut down but am starting to see the light again, thank God! Your bang on the button about the routine, I think having targets and doing the list really helps. Thanks for your post.

mhami tbh a lot of it with me is to do with control, if i'm on top of one thing (the house) it seems to follow on that i tackle other areas, before i did this i was frankly a bit of a mess, the very fact i'm entered in the race for life in June shows how positive a shiny sink has been !

Mhamai · 12/03/2007 16:23

Oh wow, well done yaddayah! I have spent even when not depressed years of accumalating all sorts of junk and clutter, I've joked about it, laughed about it and cried about it util finaly last week I got an Aggie/kim type crowd to come out, now they have been a great help and even though I now just have boxes and boxes of colthes and such to still sort through, I fially feel like I'm getting there, I'm still in about the ironing, I'll be baking cakes next! lol

staceym11 · 12/03/2007 16:38

Done:

tumble on with washing from yesterday (dh wouldnt let me put it on, he was watching football )
washing machine on
ds up and dressed
all fed
beds made
curtains open
me and dd up and dressed
steralise bottles
s+s bathroom
sort fold put away
load into tumble
27 boogie fling (or hwatever its called!)
stuff to charity shop
old shoes to shoe recycling
young mums this afternoon!
washing up
5 min room rescue (dds as usual)
sort fold put away
move pc screen out of hallway! (dh again )

to do:

shine sink

I've done enough digging for today. Hands, legs and back feel a bit achey! Not done a huge amount but there are a lot of weeds and various bits of junk to pick out. I hope to do a bit each day and eventually it will be done!! Then i hope to grass seed it.
I am very worried about all the broken glass though. Im worried it will work its way up out of the grass as its played on. Hopefully once there are lots of grass roots there it will hold the glass back.

Looks like everyone has had a good FLYing day today.

Have to cook tea now!

shouldbedoingthehousework · 12/03/2007 17:43

OMG! Soooo many posts today I haven't got the time or stamina to read through them all but hope everyone is well

Have done nothing on the FLY front today and it really show house is AWFUL! Will do better tomorrow - have to cos we have a friend coming after school...

Have a good evening everyone

Mhamai welcome and congrats for finding the FLY thread!

I've been hanging around for a while now and, either it's a long honeymoon period or it DOES work. I find I look for housework to do as everything just falls into place so naturally. It's so good to be able to tell people what housework you do and have people appreciate the efforts you have gone to that gay.

And it's a fantastic place to be even if you don't fly. Everyone here is just so friendly and wonderful and supportive. I don't think I'd have coped so well over the past few days without my FLY crutch.

Not much flying since my last post. Spent the late afternoon playing with DS and next door's 4, then puttingg away of toys and sweeping up sand, soil and gravel.

We've all been fantastic today. Spring has sprung...Night all.

Wolfgirl · 12/03/2007 19:18

Hi, just read this thread and its really made me laugh. thank you ladies, and thank you more so because Im not the only one with hamster/wheel type chores! LOL.

can anyone tell me if they work? I do 4 days a week, went back end of Oct after mat.leave with DD (second child), had christmas, then Jan - decs down, hide toys routine; trying to sell stuff as so darn brassic (have step kids with hefty maintenance and nursery fees, so actually working for very very little at the mo - long story as to why the heck I am actually working but another time hey!). But the thing is, Ive been off sick with flu - yet again. Had two weeks off end Jan, and now a week off last week (and as I type am coughing like on 100 fags a day). Im exhausted, there is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS stuff to do.

I guess Im not coping. DS and DD are home with me on a Friday when Im supposedly meant to run the house and childmind and.... you get the picture.

If anyone does work out there, let me know how you juggle stuff without getting sick! (cough cough bark bark) xx

Welcome wolfgirl and anyone else I've missed.

I've lost my list in this huge thread I think did most of it though.

I saw the hv, who suggested I may be anaemic, and is also referring me for counselling, so I'm quite relieved I went.
I've made a drs appt to try and deal with back pain and eczema which never gets better.

Isn't it wonderful when the sun shines?

I also have hamster cleaning to do, but it is on my weekly list on the fridge, so dd1 sees it and reminds me (get your dc involved in FLYing as soon as they can read!)

Hi to all. I'm not very good at doing the name and a quick personal message but a special hello today to grouchyoscar and Jelley and well done to both. Glad to see you damewashalot as I was thinking of you today.

Wolfgirl I work three days a week. My children are secondary school age now but as they have bedtimes which are 8.30pm ish, and have after school activities involving sport and music which means I have to take them somewhere and pick them up, sometimes I think they are as hard work as when they were little! That thought lasts about 5secs only, though! My morning usually runs like this:-
7am - 7.20am Up, shower, dress and dry hair
7.20am - 8pm Put a load of washing on. Supervise breakfast (and eat my own) and packed lunch preparation, ask the kids if they have anything after school that they've forgotten to mention, if they've remembered their stuff, see them off to the bus.
8am - about 8.30am Feed cat, put dog outside in kennel, unload/load d/w, put washing on line, do makeup, tidy kitchen, open blinds and curtains, put phone on answerphone, check to see what is for tea tonight and if any shopping is needed, stuff to post, make packed lunch, grab something to read at lunchtime in work. Go to work.
4pm Arrive home, doing shopping etc on the way. Prepare tea, ask kids if they have homework/dirty washing. Eat tea, tidy up, feed dog and cat, walk dog, do a bit of ironing, check that everyone has what they need for the next day, make beds, MN a bit, check e-mails, write birthday cards/letters/cheques, head for bed anytime between 10.30pm and midnight. Chat to dh here and there!

On the days I don't work I try to strip the beds for their weekly wash and towels too, stay in for the builder/electrician if necessary, give the dog an extra long walk, get on with more ironing, do some sorting out, have docs appointments/hair appointments etc. Once a month or so, my friends ring me to get together for lunch.

Like you, I wonder sometimes why I work. Almost all my friends now do as the children are secondary school age.

Sorry that is so long. I hope it helps to show that even if your life seems chaotically busy and that you feel you are struggling, you're not alone. I do draw the line when I'm shattered so that I don't get ill. I think I'll have an early night tonight as we had a busy w/e. I was out on Sat night until after midnight and up at 7.15am as the kids had to go somewhere. That doesn't sound bad, but at the end of a busy week........ My tip, keep posting on these threads even if you can't do much that day or do a list. Just say hello all. I know I'm a part of it, but we're a good bunch here and I sometimes catch myself doing jobs without having planned to do them and I know that it is as a result of the FLY threads. Thank you fellow FLYers even those like me who hardly ever look at the mission let alone do it!

satinshoes · 12/03/2007 21:42

big kisses for all the new flyers xxxx

p.s i never did get around to doing those cobwebs

JustIvor · 12/03/2007 21:58

satin! Honestly! Anyone would think you were busy all day with a baby and a small child to care for or somesuch!

Mhamai · 12/03/2007 22:15

Hi I just want to say a quick thankyou for the warm welcome and lovely support I got here today on fly, you are all lovely lovely ladies, I'm feeling so good in myself, I have been keeping the sink shiny, it sounds daft but my sink is taking on magical proportions! See you all soon and good flying today everyone.

Jelley · 13/03/2007 06:57

mission - dou you think Kelly has read this thread and we've all moaned about the repetative missions. It's another new one!

Ivor I was tired just reading your daily routine!

Mhamai I'm glad you've discovered the magic of the shiny sink. Mine makes me smile when I do It (but mostly I just measn I've emptied and dried it . Yesterday I really did do the whole shiny thing as I was inspired by everyone else)

Jelley · 13/03/2007 07:01

Tuesday. My brain isn't awake yet

Mhamai · 13/03/2007 08:30

Ok, very speedy check in, have slept through alarm so running late. I'm out all day so won't be doing much flying. On the upside, the house is really clean from yesterday! Good luck everyone today, will check in later.

Jelley · 13/03/2007 19:04

Mhamai, just in case you come back and think we've ignored you all day...see below for link to todays thread
