StorageINSIDE deep utility room cupboards, any ideas??

We've had a wall of cupboards built in our utilty room to house the washer/drier plus hats/coats etc. One cupboard is for shelves only and is 60cm wide and 60cm deep. I am finding it impossible to organise these shelves as they are so deep and you can't get to anything at the back without taking everthing else out...

Any ideas for how to arrange this better? Wire drawers would be good but not sure where you can get these other than IKEA which isnt an option for us (live miles away and no on line ordering yet...)

Wondered about clear plastic boxes too, but not sure these would make great use of the depth?

TIA

Wire baskets would be good. This site has a huge variety of plastic boxes - maybe some combination would work?

Couple of pages of wire baskets - not sure if they'd all work, but some might (and a good site for storage stuff in general)?

Thanks for this, second linke Store esp has some good options - thou bit pricey(cupboards were not cheap!!). Will mail them to see what they can suggest. I love the elfa baskets they sell but they are really investment storage...

lol at 'investment storage' - I know what you mean. It seems strange to spend a lot of money on something that's going to be hidden in a cupboard, but you'll probably feel a glow of efficiency whenever you use them (or would that just be me?)

No not just you! I feel very proud whenever I get any storage system in place at home (like labelling the shelves in the airing cuoboard!!). But spending big money on wire baskets seems bit mad somehow.

Homebase or B&Q in their kitchen sections do pull out drawers

Twiglett · 11/03/2007 08:46

and 60cm is a standard size

MamaG · 11/03/2007 08:47

you must post some pictures of them when you buy them

This from a woman who's been taking an interest in paint pads. What's wrong with good storage then???? HMM???

Twiglett · 11/03/2007 08:50

homebase bottom of right hand page in the middle come in 60cm

In my old airing cupboard (mega mega deep) I have stuff in fruit crates and just pull the whole box out at the front and then get the one out from the back - have 4 on the shelf. This is mainly stuff that I don't need everyday though. The stuff I use every week I keep right at the front for easy access.

MamaG · 11/03/2007 08:51

lol you found me out

Pannacotta · 11/03/2007 09:24

Thanks Twiglett, this is prob what I need (had checked B&Q and they only had 50cm width). Don't mind admitting to being a saddo when it comes to storage, not being able to find things or having shelf loads of stull fall out of cupboards onto your head both guaranteed to drive me mad!

if you're going to homebase they have regular 10% off days .. and they also have friends and family days and have vouchers for them .. I have just bought 3 shelves like that and ended up with a 35% discount .. it is worth it .. oh and if you take out a homebase card you get interest free and I think another discount on first purchase .. and they do let all offers be redeemed at same time

I love storage

I love a good bargain more though
