You know those washing machines that take 12kg or more? Well, what's the catch?

Give me your opinions please!

Are they rubbish?

Too noisy?

Can only take massive loads?

Do they actually not fit in normal kitchen appliance spaces?
Give me your opinions please
Do the smart ones crash as often as my smart TV does?

Or are they amazing, best thing ever, with the potential to transform my laundry life by halving the number of loads we do a week? (currently approx 20 loads per week Shock )

And actually I'll need a bigger dryer too...

It has a sticky out bit - sorry should have said, check the dimensions for the model you want. The model I tried has an internal light which is brilliant for finding things.

Smurf I have an LG 9kg dryer. I've had no problems with it!

I just take a couple of items out and hang them to dry and then the rest goes in.

Sorry to hi-jack but FrenchFancy do you have a calendering machine? (Hot ironing mangle thing? If not, could I ask how you iron sheets for holiday properties?)

As for large WMs, we have a huge monster to wash horse blankets. It makes a heck of a racket and keeps breaking down, but it is at least 13 years old. I have to say, when it comes to white goods, I used to think spending more on a good quality machine was worth it but now I'm not so sure because the technology in all brands is better and they all seem to have in built in obsolesence.

The 12kg with dryers in only dry 8kg. Which means you can't wash 12kg if you intend to tumble dry it. So annoying

I just wanted to add that the max wash load is usually just for 1 or 2 progtams, i.e. cottons. If you just use that for everything then it's fine, but if you do mixed wash or delicates or some other program, most of the machines we looked at had smaller capacity suggested.
Enjoy your new machine - I too was totally excited by my new purchase, kids told me I need to get out more Grin

Bigger drum, low water level due to regulation. There's got to be a compromise and it's usually that they take a fair few hours to wash.

I have a 9kg washer and a 9kg drier and they're my twin babies, I adore them. They have actually changed my life significantly.
