How do I wash a padded jacket without it going all lumpy

I washed my dd coat last year and it went all lumpy inside and never had much shape after that. I now had one for dd2 (dont know why, just loved the coat!), however I am a bit scared to wash it in case it turns out the same way.

Does anyone have any tips on whats best. It says it can be washed at 40 on a regular wash but I am a bit dubious.

taffy101 · 07/03/2007 16:42

Bananaknickers · 07/03/2007 16:44

Yep, defo works. I have a big puffy Musto riding jacket full of down feathers and when I washed it it looked all limp and flat and lumpy. I've got a couple of the bobbly balls you use with a tumble dryer (one is blue and one pink - you can get them from lakeland, robert dyas etc.) and altho the tumble dryer was on for ages, it really worked.

These balls also cut out the need for tumble dryer sheets with normal washing.
