I think I must have been through 10 can openers in the last year, the last two I got didn't even work! Please please please.. recommend a good fool proof can opener that won't stop after a week!

This thread is quite old, but if you’ve landed here looking for advice on which kitchen tools to buy, we’ve recently updated our best can opener guide with plenty of Mumsnetter-approved products, including both manual and electric options. We hope it’s helpful.

I brought my PrimAcc can opener online, really good quality and well worth the price.

mymatemarmite · 19/03/2017 14:34

I have one of these, can't remember how long I have had it - quite possibly 10 plus years!

I've got something similar to this one. I'm left handed and struggle with manual tin openers.

I've had the above one for about ten years.

OXO Good Grips. I think all of their kitchen accessories are brilliant quality - chunky, well made, last AGES.

BoreOfWhabylon · 19/03/2017 17:55

Another vote for OXO Good Grips here.

I've got a Brabantia one now which was about 7 quid that works well after having spunked at least a tenner a year away in the past fews years on various shit ones.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 19/03/2017 18:56

Yes to Magican.

NotCitrus · 19/03/2017 19:19

Another GoodGrips fan.

BikeRunSki · 19/03/2017 19:22

I have had a Branbantia for so long I can't remember how old it is, but at least 15 years. Works fine.

Falconhoof1 · 19/03/2017 19:22

Goodgrips a here too!

Icouldbeknitting · 19/03/2017 20:33

I was going to pimp mine but it's out of stock. Mine is a Holm, it's a side opener so there are no sharp edges. I've wasted money on at least two can openers that didn't do the job so I appreciate having one that does.

It looks very similar to this one

Nogent 3 Star Super-Kim 4030 G Tin Opener www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001E05WQM/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_TUUZyb77R417T?tag=mumsnetforum-21

Got this after having same experience as you.its fab

llangennith · 19/03/2017 20:41

I have a Good Grips one but it doesn't always work first time for Confusedme. I've come to the conclusion that I'm just not very good at using a can opener

llangennith · 19/03/2017 20:42

The grimace was supposed to go at the end of my post. Confused

lalaloopyhead · 19/03/2017 20:51

I've got the Kuhn Rikon one like Poltergoose, its ace. I got it from TK Maxx so wasn't as pricey as the link but we've had it a good couple of years and it is still going strong.

The no sharp edges is a real plus too, tho it took a while to work out how to use it because it cuts the tin in a different place to traditional tin openers and we thought it wasn't doing anything!

AwakeCantSleep · 19/03/2017 21:37

Another vote for the Kuhn. I've had mine for 10+ years. Never lets me down. I love how it leaves no sharp edges.
