I have a rather bad tea habit 😞😞 and as such all my spoons are starting to look stained. What's the best way to get rid of the stains and have nice tea spoons again????

You can bleach them and wash them thoroughly after. Put a blob of bleach in a mug, top up with water and soak the spoons.

Astonish does a little tub of stuff especially for this that also works well, oxygen something or other. You can get it in the pound shop.

Milton also does the job beautifully, without the need for bleach. Just put them all in a teacup full of water overnight with a capful of milton. Come the morning they will be shiny again - no need to scrub and no need to rinse!

Thingywhatsit · 17/02/2017 14:53

Right so Milton might be best thing for me - not sure I fancy bleach on my spoons. Hate bleach at best of times.

Before I go buy some - Milton won't make them smell will it?

VAnish oxy action in a mug. boiling water. Swish. Leave. remove scrub. Weird trick from my granddad

Citric Acid

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 17/02/2017 14:58

Don't use bleach, it wrecks aquatic environments which affects our water supply.
A paste of bicarbonate of soda works well, leave it on for 20 mins then scrub off

didireallysaythat · 17/02/2017 18:34

I just use a metal scourer....

NennyNooNoo · 17/02/2017 18:36

Milton is dilute bleach isn't it?

You could try a paste bicarbonate of soda with hot water.

namechange20050 · 17/02/2017 18:37

Milton is just weak bleach. Have you never smelled it?!

BubbleBed · 17/02/2017 18:38

I did this the other day - bicarb in hot water, leave them to soak, then wash with a sponge. They all look brand new!

Thingywhatsit · 17/02/2017 18:50

Ok I am gonna try the bicarb thing - sure I have some around! Thank you! 😄😄😄😄

Dishwasher tablet in a mug with teaspoons and some hot water?

Thingywhatsit · 18/02/2017 11:30

Ok I tried the bicarb thingy on a couple of spoons and it worked!!!!! Now have the rest of my tea spoons in a dish of bicarb paste. Only took 30 mins and a quick scrub! Photo of stained on the left and bicarb' don the right!

Thank you for the suggestions!

Brilliant and so much better than bleach!

CaveMums · 18/02/2017 23:48

Magic sponges are brilliant for removing tea stains from spoons and mugs

HopeClearwater · 18/02/2017 23:50

Denture tablets. Boiling water. Leave for an hour or so.

DJKKSlider · 18/02/2017 23:52

I thought Milton was baby steralliser?

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/02/2017 09:26

I dip them in a mug of neat smartprice beach, when their done I pour the bleach back into the bottle.

ChishandFips33 · 20/02/2017 18:09

I have the astonish stuff - works on cups too and just leave the spoons in to soak at the same time

Never thought about bicarb even though I use it for just about everything else! Will switch when the astonish runs out

NotAPuffin · 20/02/2017 18:11

Coke or Pepsi would work too.
