Is washing liquid better than powder?

I've just bought liquid Persil for the first time. It's more expensive and requires a smaller quantity in the wash. Am I right in thinking it does a better wash? Is it Superior quality?

"Another vote for powder. I tried switching to liquid and my DD (who isn't allergic normally) came out in a rash."

I used to use washballs/eco friendly liquid and low temperature washes u til my washer started to smell awful and DD's eczema got really bad.

After reading a similar thread on MN I switched to Ariel and high temperature washes. The smell disappeared and so did DD's eczema. The mould had built up in the machine due to not being killed by bleach or high temperatures and had caused the smell and aggravated the eczema.

It is worth noting the it isn't usually the enzymes in bio powder that trigger eczema, but the perfumes used.

This website explains everything really well.

Lidl or Morrisons supermarket powder - wee splash of zoflora for towels / sweaty socks etc. Does the job brilliant and no musty machine smell!
