How to get oily handprints off the wall?

I somehow managed to get two perfect copies of my greasy massage-oiled handprints on the cream painted wall above my headboard

Any advice to get rid asap?

Someone must have a tip?

What sort of paint? I'm assuming a matt emulsion?

what have you tried?

Soap and water and a gentle absorbent cloth?

all I can say is if it does come to repainting, seal over with something like PVA glue first or the oil will seep back.

Matt emulsion - I have tried soapy water and it didn't budge but has removed some of the paint!
I really really don't want to damage the paint (any more than I have).

Would a baby wipe work?

Magic erasers.

I think if soap and water didn't shift it, it's sunk right in , we're talking damage rather than removable dirt.

Try sugar soap.

I was going to suggest sugar soap too.

Get a tester of the same paint and rag roll it

It's the only way now the paints come off

Sugar soap. You can buy it in powder form and add water or ready made in a trigger spray bottle. Most supermarkets/wilkos etc sell it as well as diy stores.

I used a dishwasher tablet to get some greasy kid prints off the walls. (Wet) then wiped with a clean cloth

Been told by someone who does decorating, if you can't get greasy or dark marks, you'll have to paint over the marks with gloss paint then put the normal wall paint on after that. Apparently it'll stop the grease/dark marks showing back through

Stain block would work better than gloss!!

Look. If the paint has now come off you will have to re paint. If you can't do the lot then a 'touch up' job is your only hope

Paint fades and changes on the wall.

Baby wipes

Can't really see in the photo but it's so obvious, will try the sugar soap and a baby wipes and if not will touch it up. Must buy a headboard
