How do you keep stainless steel things looking nice?

I have a few things in the kitchen: a range cooker, big fridge and two lots of bins (normal and recycling). Things get spilled on and down them, I clean them but it still seems to leave marks and things permanently look a bit smeary.

Is there a magic solution to sparkling stainless steel?

I've always used baby oil! Seriously, clean and disenfect as usual and then a small about of baby oil and buff dry with some kitchen paper! People always comment on how shiny my appliances are and I love the smell!

Method cleaner is good (it smells nice!) but Barkeepers Friend is the business!! I just use a wet cloth and soapy water and BF once a week or whenever a pan has boiled over! Microfibre cloth for buffing after.

Oil after it is clean and dry. Seriously, it is a miracle worker!

I have to say I've never got the baby oil thing, why clean a surface and then cover it with something that how ever little you use will make it sticky?
Yes it will look shiny but for how long, before it starts to attract dust and stuff?

I do my sink/drainer daily, cooker splash back less than a week, and the cooker hood once a month because that's how often they need to be done.

And every thing is shiny and oil/grease free.
