Anti fungal for washing

DH is trying to clear health issues with recurring thrush & fungal foot infection. He's made diet changes recommended by a nutritionist & on prescription cream. Nutritionist raised point which we hadn't thought of that he could be reinfecting himself through clothes & towels. I've just put our bedding through a 60 wash but not sure the elastic in his boxers and socks will stand up to such a hot wash. Does anyone know of anything I can use in the machine which will kill fungus? Do Dettol or Napisan work?

Perhaps Dettol's Laundry cleanser may do the trick; worth checking it out.
Good thinking from your Nutritionist

I agree with openmindedmonkey try Dettol laundry cleaner, that might help you out.

Thanks, will give Dettol a try. Got to be better than the other suggestion I read which was ironing everything. Ironing socks and pants is a step too far!

Get him to take a diflucan tablet, that will solve it .

60 isn't a hot wash. His stuff will be fine.

We wash all undies, towels and bedding on 60 wash

The Dettol cleaner is antibacterial but not anti-fungal. You should use a product called Halo, a laundry liquid which is both anti bacterial and anti fungal. You will indeed be reinfecting your feet whenever you change your socks as research has shown that socks can still hold the fungal spores for up to 5 washes. On the advice of a podiatrist I washed all my socks in Halo, and continue to do so, recommended to spray my toes in Lamisil for a week ( I continue to do this as infection was bad). Finally after very many years of trying every purchasable product I have new nail growth. I also use Halo on all my sports kit and towels to avoid cross infection. I but Halo from Sainsbury’s or Amazon but it is widely available.

use surgical spirit on his feet/between toes, be warned if the skin is split it will sting like fuck but it will help clear it up

You can either do a prewash with vinegar, put vinegar into the final rinse or do both. Vinegar is very good on yeast, moulds etc.

Napisan (bleach based) was recommended to me by a foot clinic. Bleach is effective against dermatophytes which is most common cause.

Dettol does often include benzalkonium chloride which I've read has some efficiency. Dettol doesn't say its effective against fungals so probably not efficient method or quantity or milder effect anyways. Athlete's foot and nail infections are fairly common so would be a large market.

Any cleaning solution will depend on products potency of effective ingredients (percentage in solution), dosage and water temperature (ie. bleach).

Research papers can be viewed on Google scholar. Also previously I read veterinary recommendations to then consider ingredients in products developed for humans /homes when bleach too aggressive.
