Dents/grooves in engineered wood flooring

Oh I'm soooo with myself. I was in a strop the other day while trying to get something from behind the sofa. I dragged the sofa very roughly backwards and forwards, and now have a couple of dents/grooves in my floor. Stupid stupid me

Any tips on how to improve them? Can't disguise with furniture as it's close to doorway.

Is it feasible to replace small section of flooring?

Ouch.. i've done that

What finish is the floor ? Oiled ? Laquered ?

I think it's lacquered....we didn't put it in. How can I tell?

lacquered, has a shiny look to it (ours is lacquered .. american black walnut (ie dark wood),, unfortunatly the scratches go white as although as its the lacquer that scratches not the wood.. have found that a teeny dab of shoe polish can disguise it slightly and after a bit of wear and tear the scratches fade slightly anyway

I do rememember there are specialist "pens" that you can buy to disguise sctraches, but i've never tried them, as seem to remember they were very expensive

Re replacement boards.. depends .. if the board have been glued down its a bit of a specialist job, plus colour matching .. might look more obvious than the scratches !!

Yes, def lacquered then. It's oak, so not v dark. The grooves are very shallow, but visible at certain angles. Bah. I really don't think there's anything that can be done about it. A harsh lesson for me to control my temper!

They will fade slightly.. we had a shocker of one right across the middle of the lounge where DS skidded a car with a dodgy wheel .. i don't really see it anymore (try not to look too closely and it has faded loads

Try the shoe polish (light tan ?) or move the sofa (carefully) forward slightly !

Thanks yadda. Yeah...they aren't really scratches, more long dents. The lacquer is unscathed I think. I might as well console myself with the fact that the DCs will probably wreak far greater destruction around the house, and that the dents in the floor will seem trivial in comparison
