Do you need salt and rinse aid as well?
Probably a daft question but I'm never sure

I think not, but put them in anyway. I'm a slave to those little lights asking for more.

Bluntness100 · 21/12/2016 09:03

I keep the salt topped up in mine, there's a little area where you pour it in at the bottom, fill it every month or so. I can tell when it's running out as dishes not as clean. I don't use rinse aid though, never have done and on a daily basis just the tabs.

originalmavis · 21/12/2016 09:04

I think so. If the salt us know then we get powdery residue and without rinse aid the glasses are smeary. I'm beginning to wonder why the 'extra' in these is really?

Pestilence13610 · 21/12/2016 09:04

We do, we have hard water though. Might be alright if you have soft water.
Tea stains stop coming off the mugs about a week before the machine asks for more salt.

MackerelOfFact · 21/12/2016 09:05

I always do, they don't really live up to their 'all in one' claims in my experience!

Chasingsquirrels · 21/12/2016 09:07

I just use cheap basics tablets, although sometimes they are "more-in-one".
I do use salt as we are in a hard water area.
I've never used rinse aid.

I'm always astounded by the price of all singing all dancing dishwasher tablets.
Although I was equally astounded by the price of the waitrose basics ones (and got them from Asda or Aldi instead).

PinkSwimGoggles · 21/12/2016 09:09

we keep salt topped up as in hard water area.
no extra rinse aid.

NotCitrus · 21/12/2016 09:21

Yes, I have very hard water and need to top up every month or so (or weekly if I don't use all in ones). Family with soft water don't need to top up.

dementedpixie · 21/12/2016 09:26

I do as it gives a better wash. I use own brand salt/rinse aid and tend to buy fairy tablets when they are on offer (home bargains often have the best price)

bookbook · 21/12/2016 09:29

Salt topped up yes, but do not use rinse aid ( hard water area here)

Ulysses · 21/12/2016 09:32

Soft water area so according to manufactures instructions no need for salt. I do use rinse aid as it find its dries them better.

Reality16 · 21/12/2016 09:33

Never used either in mine. I buy finish or fairy tabs. Soft water area though.

idontlikealdi · 21/12/2016 09:43

Yes otherwise the glasses come out with powdery crap on them.

rabbit123 · 21/12/2016 11:53

Yes to rinse aid. Everything comes out dripping wet otherwise

Artandco · 21/12/2016 11:56

Yes, our machine won't even run if the sat and rinse aid aren't filled (Miele)

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/12/2016 11:57

No salt or rinse aid. Soft water area.

Only works with the gel type all in ones though.

trinity0097 · 22/12/2016 10:51

I do, cuts the time down by 4 min on a fast wash.

Mehfruittea · 22/12/2016 10:53

I always do. Wish I had a quick wash setting...

Artandco · 22/12/2016 13:20

It's 1hr10 for eco quick wash here

Mehfruittea · 22/12/2016 18:23

I only have a glassware setting and standard or heavy soiled plates. 3hrs.12mins Sad so hard to get on top of washing up when I can only do one load a day realistically. And I won't wash by hand...Grin

LeadPipe · 22/12/2016 18:25

Yes, central London -I use both.

We are getting whole house water softener installed-the water is so hard!

mirokarikovo · 22/12/2016 18:27

We use all-in-one tabs but still use salt and rinse aid. You do really see the difference if either runs out.

Salt yes. Rinse aid yes. Eco wash 30 mins. Hard water area. I use Tesco everyday dishwasher tablets - cheap as chips.

wowfudge · 24/12/2016 06:36

Neither. Very soft water. No issues with things not drying.
