How do you wash towels?

Will be buying The White Company towels for our new home since they've been suggested multiple times not sure I want white towels though

How do you wash your towels to get them nice and fluffy/soft?

MIL has the best towels ever (Asda Ones), and swears by letting them dry naturally and not tumble drying?

Wash at 60 with powder and vinegar in the fabric softener drawer then tumble dry. Really hard water here so it's hard to stop them going crunchy.

I wash mine at 60 sometimes 90 then line dry till damp then tumble and they come out nice and fluffy.

Wash in washing machine with correct level of detergent, no fabric conditioner. Then tumble dry....result is lovely soft towels.

i wash our towels at 30C with other whites.

I use a small amount of Costco's own brand washing powder - no softener.

Dried outside on the line weather permitting, otherwise indoors on an airer or the radiators (no tumble dryer here)

They are quite crisp -but I like them like that. If they are too soft and fluffy they don't seem to dry the skin as well.

My top tip for fluffy non-tumble dried towels (I don't have a tumble dryer...Confused) is to 'fluffle' them regularly while they dry (whether they are on the outside washing line or on a clothes airer indoors.

'fluffle' is my made up word for shaking, scrunching and just generally manipulating said towels so they get fluffy again. My fella knows exactly what I mean when I ask if he will 'fluffle' the towels for me.

I usually wash them on a 40 or 50 degree wash and use fabric conditioner and as long as it's not raining (even in mid-winter) I hang outside on the washing line for as long as I can before drying on a well aired airer.

I find that tumble drying takes the lovely smell out of the things I have washed.....

Ooh interesting! I always find tumble dry makes them fluffy and left to dry makes them hard and scratchy.

wash at 60 with bio powder, much less powder than says on pack, about a third. no softener.
ideally line dry outside for some softness (from the movement whilst drying, same principle as the tumble dryer).
or embrace the exfoliating properties of a hard and scratchy towel :)

Wash at around 40-60, no fabric conditioner, soft water area, line dry and then finish off in the dryer.

I like them to get a regular dose of fresh air and, ideally, sunshine.

I wash them at 60 with washing powder (persil) and miofresh (it's an antibacterial powder which we also use for cloth nappies) and then I tumble dry them (I think it is that bit that makes them soft!) I don't use fabric conditioner with my towels as they dry you better without fabric conditioner build up.
