How good are you at keeping on top of the housework?

I have 2 kids, one is 7 and the other 18 months old. I'm a sahm at the moment so I really should have no excuse but I am terrible at keeping up with the housework. Anyone else want to admit that they failed the domestic goddess test? I do a few loads of washing a day (often forget to hang it out to dry and have to wash it again), manage the washing up, sweep the floors most days. But I never dust, I don't bother ironing apart from ds school clothes on a Sunday evening. I cook from scratch every night but thats only cos I like cooking. Anyone else completely shit at this wifey stuff? The house isn't disgusting I just neglect certain jobs I can't be arsed to to. Feel free to slate me for this if you want. Im a lazy bitch

I am actually obsessive about cleaning; so no help :)

However, you're not a lazy bitch, looking after kids and having a clean house is almost impossible.

Only advice I can give (and I know it is easier said than done) - GET RID OF STUFF YOU CLEARLY AREN'T USING/DON'T WANT.

Honestly, don't give it house or head space. It is 10x harder to clean around/behind/under stuff.

But other than that, as long as kitchen is clean, bathroom is clean and the toilet doesn't smell. Beds are clean and clothes are washed, I'd say you're doing fine. Dust doesn't smell and can't make you sick; so whilst it is nice to have the house dusted, it's not the be all and end all.

I Wfh part time so in theory have the time to do it, but like you mainly can't be arsed. Like you I wash & cook daily plus Hoover & mop downstairs 3-4 times a week (white floors with pets & kids ShockConfused) & change bedding weekly but hate & therefore generally avoid dusting, bathroom cleaning and any other deep clean like window/fridge/cooker cleaning.
DC tidy, Hoover & dust their own bedrooms weekly (age 7-11) and I bleach the toilets regularly but otherwise we wait until we've invited people over then have a frenzied hour or so of cleaning Grin. We are quite tidy though & don't have lots of clutter so our house never looks that bad.

I have to confess my housework gets away from me. I work full time so does my oh so we are both exhausted in the evenings. I am hoping over the Christmas period to do a deep clean then force myself to stick to a routine I have created so I do half hour every day.
