can anyone recommend a good, relable make of dishwasher, one that will hopefully last a while.

we have a Neff dishwasher - had it for about four years so far and works well still, although we don't use it very often.

We have a Tricity Bendix dishwasher which we got for £140 4 years ago. Never had a moment's bother with it (she says with fingers crossed!)

We have had our Bosch for 7 years

I have a basic Bosch which is more than 10 years old - can't remember exactly. I've had to have it fixed once, when the casing of the electrics that run from the door to the motor got cracked and shorted out (happens to most d/ws eventually because of the design - the door opening and closing squeezes the wires)

Sorry Can't recommend one, can only say we've got a smeg (that name always makes me laugh) its 3 years old was outrageously expensive (we bought a new house and it was part of the deal), the plastic powder opener thing has warped so it doesn't open and as its fully intergrated one we've been quoted £245 for a repair !!! its also got an intermittent fault where it decides its going to take in too much water and so stops mid cycle.. so not really recommending it !

Personally i'd go for the most basic model possible , as you never use all the different options,

Yes, we only ever use one programme with the exception of an occasional rinse.

We have a whirlpool which has been great (and pretty cheap)

We has a Bosch in our previous house and it was great, really reliable, quiet and not too pricey. Had a couple of v minor blips but managed to fix these myself useing the fab user guide. But we sold it when we moved and bought a smart stainless steel Smeg one, much more expensive. We had to replace the motor after a year and have just had to spend £300 getting it repaired due to a prob with the drainage, so def DO NOT recommend Smeg, they are awful. Look good but bloomin' useless. Stick to German makes, Bosch the most resonable I think. You could check out Which and Good Housekeeping, think there is some info on line these days...

We chose an Indesit one which was about £200 - mainly as it has a 25min cycle which is fab - only had it about 9mths but has been great as it is our first one but would not be without it now!

Nikki76 · 18/02/2007 20:27

We've got a Bosch slimline one - its fab!!

My ex boss gave us her bosch when they had a new kitchen. It was 3.5 years old then. We've had it for the last six years or so and have never had any problems with it at all. So if it ever does die on us, we'll be replacing it with another bosch for sure.

queenofpuddings · 18/02/2007 21:28

Thanks everyone, bosch looks like the way to go.
