Clothes dryers

My very old dryer is about to die which in some ways is a blessing. I've been trying to use it less and less, mainly because of cost/environmental so only really use it a bit in the winter for a few things.

So it's dying and I'm not going to replace it but I really need to get my other drying options better organised. At the moment I use a clothes rail for everything that can go on a hanger and radiator rails for smalls but I never really have anywhere for trousers.

Rather than spend any money on a dryer I wondered whether to buy a heated clothes rail/airer like the ones in Lakeland. I remember reading that they didn't use much electricity.

Are they good or does anyone have other options?

Modern dryers are far more efficient than older ones though. The Lakeland Airers are brilliant and I do have one but I have no space for a dryer in this house. We will be moving next year and I'm planning a dryer into the renovations we are doing. Remember that while the dryer does use electricity any form of drying in the house releases moisture which can cause its own problems. I run a dehumidifier when drying washing indoors so between that and the heated Airer I doubt using a dryer would be any worse environmentally and it would be better for my house.

Watching with interest - I was thinking of buying one of those too

My dryer is currently out in a separate garage so the condensation isn't a problem. I don't really have room in the house for one anyway.

I've seen some that come with a big cover that keeps the heat in so dries the clothes quicker.

Does anyone else have a heated airer? Any good?

I love my Lakeland dryer. I bought the cover for it which speeds the drying.i use it in the spare bedroom with them window slightly open to prevent condensation.

I have one of these and it's great. Clothes generally don't need ironing after drying in it either.

Thanks, that Argos one looks great and a good price as well.
