Clearing washing machine tubes.

Apart from putting on a really hot wash, what else can I do do help clear out the washing machines outlet tube.

I have checked the U bend and it is perfectly clear but the hose from the washing machine to the U is quite gunky, but it is attached at the washing machine end so I can't take it off and give it a good clean out, so what can I add to the wash to help.

We have very soft water so its not limescale build up, just slimey gunk coating the tube.

do you really need to?

The water isn't draining as well as it should, and I am having to give the clothes a second spin as they are too wet. SO I reckon yes I do.

are you sure the outlet pipe is positioned correctly ? though the pipes really do gunk up.

i do lots of hot washes

Does it have a filter you can clean out? Last time I checked mine it was covered in slime, I've switched to powder as liquid detergent seems to make it worse.

You could pop some white vinegar in the machine and do an empty hot wash (90 degrees), that may help.

Thanks I spent most of the afternoon searching for access to the pump filter, but it doesn't seem to have one that is accessible to anyone without a degree in engineering, discovered that one of the main supports bolts had come loose also, looks broken wedged it back as best I could but I don't think it will stay in long.

Tube seems to be positioned fine and was working fine for ages just seems to be a gradual build up of gunk slowing things down. I only have malt vinegar. Can you buy cleaning stuff like you get for dishwasher? Calgon tablets seem to be more for limescale which isn't a problem.

A least I don't have floating turds in it as referred to on an other thread.

That pipe should be removable from the washing machine, it is a replaceable part so must be fastened somehow.

I take the pipe off my machine and take it in the garden to flush it through with a hose pipe.

I had the back off the machine and it is secured to the pump by a industral factory fitted clip, you couldn't undo and refit it yourself.

Thats the second thing on this machine that seems to be designed to prevent you from doing any minor repairs or maintenance yourself, argh I am not phoning a plumber to clean a tube out .
