Trying to keep the electric bill down today is supposed to be dry and sunny not much wind but obviously not hot is it worth pegging the washing on the line ?

Yep, bed covers on the line most of yesterday. 5 mins in the tumble dryer to take the last bit of damp away.
Another load out today. Chuck them in the dryer or on a warm radiator in the evening, dry by bedtime

Iwasbornin1993 · 09/10/2016 15:07

DH put a load out this morning before he went to work, I've just brought it in now and it's completely dry. Always still use our line as long as rain isn't forecast.

WatchingFromTheWings · 09/10/2016 15:08

I've got 3 loads on the line now. Not much wind but there's enough sun to be able to dry stuff. I use the line for as much of the year as possible.

AnnieOnnieMouse · 09/10/2016 15:33

2 loads of bedding on the line, more will go out in a minute, and the first lot will go in dryer to finish off. Nice breeze here.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/10/2016 17:01

I use a spin dryer, two loads dry and put away today.

Abraiid2 · 09/10/2016 17:03

All the year round.

trilbydoll · 09/10/2016 17:07

Which is more important, the wind or the sun? Our garden is 100% shade, trees everywhere, so even when it's warm it can take a while for clothes to dry if it's not windy. I'm not sure a cold wind will have any drying effect!

Josie01 · 09/10/2016 17:10

I put the maiden outside all through the winter if it's not raining, it doesn't dry but it gets it out of the way.

There's washing on the line at the minute but it's not dry.

PberryT · 09/10/2016 17:10

I am, got 2 loads dry today.

Generally shove it out all year and then finish off inside as I don't have a tumble drier. It can't make the washing any wetter unless it rains.

Josie01 · 09/10/2016 17:11

I'd have a dryer if we had the space.

JoJoSM2 · 09/10/2016 18:36

I'd never do that. I'm surprised that anyone does in this day and age. Dryers save time and worry over the weather. Also, I think it looks a mess and is very inconsiderate. I hated when a neighbour had her granny pants on the line while I was trying to have wine in the garden with friends... Josie, you can have a dryer stacked up on top of a washing machine. It's literally only the tiniest flats that lack the space for it.

Creatureofthenight · 09/10/2016 18:40

FFS, hanging washing out is not inconsiderate.
Can still get a good bit of drying done outside even at this time of year.
It's cheaper and it's more environmentally friendly.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 09/10/2016 18:41

i have had some clothes out today...just got them in, but they will need an overnight on the airer
I have a straight line, and i cba to peg out smalls/socks so they go straight into the dryer.

am in darkest Scotland though...but it has been a lovely sunny, if cold, day

Am hoping for a breeze tomorrow, as I have bedding whooshing round now and two throws to do tonight. I am waiting for the Countryfile forecast before putting the throws in.

I dry washing outside all year round, it doesn't get completely dry in the winter, but doesn't take long to finish off indoors on a maiden.

Thankfully my neighbours put their washing out too, so I don't need to worry about offending anyone Hmm.

BombadierFritz · 09/10/2016 18:44

two lots dried today

Hanging clothes on the line is inconsiderate! FFS get a grip! I have dried two loads on the line today and my bedding will smell gorgeous when I get in it tonight *must go and make the bed.

ChuckBiscuits · 09/10/2016 18:54

Also, I think it looks a mess and is very inconsiderate.

Oh do behave.

Mine goes out 12 months a year and if it rains, it stays out there till the sun/wind comes along and dries it.

unlucky83 · 09/10/2016 18:55

Another all year round - and I have a rain cover for my rotary airer - so I can put stuff out in light rain. I remember it hailing once (before the rain cover) just before I got home - I found my duvet cover was dry with frozen hailstones caught in it!
If it is really humid or heavy rain I don't bother but mostly I stick stuff for a few hours and then finish in my tumble dryer... it usually takes the worst of the wet out so it takes less time in the dryer...and saves on electricity- so is better for the environment.
I also have a spin dryer - and if I am stuck tumbling everything give it a spin in that first - even after a 1600rpm spin on the washing machine it still takes a couple of pints out of things like towels before tumble drying. I have noticed I am using less electricity since I bought it (£25 second hand) - but that could be due to several things I guess.
I also hang washing out at night ....unless it is really damp it is often dry in the morning.

MrsJayy · 09/10/2016 18:58

I do my dryer is gubbed it has been drying but my new house has a whirly and I hate have to keep moving washing about

MrsJayy · 09/10/2016 19:01

Oh my gawd hanging out washing is inconsiderate that is hilariousGrin

228agreenend · 09/10/2016 19:02

I may put it out but it doesn't fully dry and feels damp when I bring it in (shady garden). I'm envious of all those who can still line -dry.

Ausernotanumber · 09/10/2016 19:04

Inconsiderate to hang washing out? Granny pants? God you'd pure LOVE DDs unmentionables. You can hardly see them
