How do you clean your leather sofa?

Hi all, I'm new here, have been 'lurking' for a while & have had a tidier house since, you really get me motivated!
Any ideas on cleaning leather sofas? I do use leather cleaner occasionally but have been using the Mr Sheen wipes & they are brill for a quick getting rid of sticky finger marks etc. but quite expensive. Don't think Mr Sheen spray would be a good idea??!!
TIA

I use a slightly damp cloth with nothing on it, so it doens't penetrate the leather and stain/warp it.

I use those wipes but get Waitrose (JL?) own - they're still not cheap but I am a lazy slattern so don't do it that often

Instructions with a leather armchair we bought were to use only a damp cloth and dry immediately with towel. It said not to use any leather cleaners.

You have to be caresul with it. I have a brown leather suite and have had it less than a year and have been cleaning it with baby wipes ...needless to say the colour has started coming out.

Damp cloth or you can go to Land of Leather website and get special little cleaning kit. I still use babywipes...

jangly - we got told the same. The co we bought from told us to use the provided leather cleaner twice a year max, otherwise leather would deteriorate!

baby wipes, mine is cream so no colour comes out just dirt! but i use simple ones as i think theu are gentle on dd's bottom, recommendation was from leather repairer who came to fix scratch when sofa was delivered, he saw 'new baby' cards and said you will have plenty of baby wipes so use them

I used to use saddle soap on the old leather chesterfield that I had once. Just gave it a good once-over once a year and it shone - kept the leather really supple and lovely.

Wow, how quick was that?! Thanks everyone. Will definately try damp cloth & also baby wipes, much cheaper than Mr Sheen

I use Lord Sheraton Leather wipes (don't they sound posh?). I get them from Tesco about £2.50 for 20. Better than babywipes which remove the colour from my sofa.

We are going to get a leather suite in the next couple of months. I'm a bit worried about my dogs, as they do go on the one we have now (not leather) and obviously, I don't want them to go on the leather one, as I'm worried about them scratching it, or worse, putting their claws through it. I am going to embark on some sort of training, now, with our old one, to keep them off it. We have a cat too, but I'm not too worried about him, as he's less likely to do as much damage as the dogs (they are quite big.) He's not the sort of cat that scratches the furniture.

Those of you with leather furniture and pets, do your pets sometimes get up on it? And if so, how likely is it that they would scratch or tear the leather? Is it fairly hardwearing to this sort of thing? Like, if they jumped up once, would it immediately spell disaster? I'll probably end up keeping them out of the lounge if I can.
