What do your do/not do?

Nappies...read on a previous post that yours comes everyday. What does she do for all that time? Does she ever drive you mad? How much do you pay?

I am about to take a lady on but haven't finalised it yet and just want a bit of reassurance to be honest. I know I need the help just not sure exactly what/how!

Thanks

Depends on the area, but cleaners in London seem to get £8 to £10 per hour, depending on whether it's through an agency or direct.

Ooh, I LIKE that idea. I am going to do that for both DH and DD. Not too big a trunk mind you... Maybe a basket. I like instant gratification.

(Sorry for hijack Neena!)

Hijack no problem....thought I was the worlds least licked poster at one time, started a couple of threads and they both got ignored to start of with!

The lady I am most keen on is now coming tommorrow due to the snow and is looking for between £7 and 8 per hour. That seems reasonable then. I have suggested 6/7 hours per week to begin with and see how that goes before introducing more if needed.

Hehehe. That's happened to me too. I should probably stop rambling in my threads though... I am probably the mumsnet equivalent of the "office bore".

Price sounds fine to me and I think it's a good idea to start off with fewer hours than you might need, rather than cutting her hours later.

Hi Neena, hope interview went well. Re your requestion ages ago (sorry!) I left a list at first but now I just leave her to it unless there is something I want especially done. I dont ask her to clean the oven (I just dont clean it although I am sure she would if I asked her to). Agree with OP about leaving laundry on the floor, YUK would not do that but occasionally cups and overnight glasses of water I would expect done in the general "sweep" of the house before putting the Dishwasher on. I to have a DH who wont do it, unless a great argument ensues so I just think, ok nor will I. It works well for us and stops the resentment building up. Yours house with six bedrooms is much bigger than mine tho. [envy.
