How much for ironing?

We always end up with piles of ironing that I hate + I'm crap at and also I'm starting work soon so won't have time to do it myself and DP wears shirts to work everyday and is more likely to burn his own face before succeeding in ironing one.

I'm looking for someone who does ironing I've heard sometimes people collect from your house and return 2-3 days later etc but I need to work out if it'll be cheaper than me doing it myself.
What would you say a reasonable price is for someone doing that? Is it per hour, per kg or per item???
Anyone on here who pays someone to do their ironing?

My friend has a cleaner who also does the ironing and she pays £30 for her to come once a week, clean the house, put laundry on, iron what needs ironing etc. (She lives on her own so not much to do)
But I'm not sure if that's expensive or not and I assume the lady wouldn't just come to do the ironing.

Help please ?

It won't be. If it was then there would be no profit for the people doing it. They'd be working at a loss.

Oh and round here people charge by item or by "black bin bag" (I find that a strange way to price!)

But why don't you compromise - pay for a weeks worth every month or something like that. Takes the pressure off and it'd be a nice treat.

You can get people to come and just do ironing. I used to, when we had money spare. Depending on where you are, they charge about £8-15ph. I used to love it.

It sounds a lot but is probably a shirt and a handkerchief

Will have to find a scale now as I don't own one because I'm trying to avoid stepping on one and getting depressed.

The place local to us charges £15 for a oval laundry basket, which they put your clothing in when you drop it off, our family of 4 including 5 work shirts for DH and 10 kids long sleeve shirts and 8 lots of trousers/pleated skirts plus weekend and sports kits pay for one basket a week and occasionally 2 baskets.

£30 is so worth it, especially when it it is 3 or 4 hours ironing which I would rather spend with the Dds.

Have just weighed 1 ralph Lauren polo top & 1 pure cotton 17" collar shirt, They are just over 500g - approx 4 item is a kilo. /£4.
I'd put shite TV on for 1 hour twice a week & iron them myself

The thing is 2h a week is nowhere near enough time for me + like I mentioned I'm crap at it so stuff always comes out creased somewhere anyway
We once passed DPs shirts on to his mums as she has a lady that cleans and irons once every week or 2 and got the shirts back same day in about an hour!!! (Think 10+ shirts) the lady's a machine I tell you!

I'm seriously contemplating just having someone do it because it's one of my least favourite things to do in the world ...

We pay £30 for a large holdall - worth every penny! Shirts and tops are returned on hanger provided so I just put it all away, it's brilliant.

I think I'm going to start an ironing business...I don't mind ironing...I have a little spare time....

No brainier for me!

I wonder how you would advertise etc.
