Washing smelling odd - is it Lenor?

So my washing has started to smell odd, so naturally I had a panic that my machine was all dirty.

I cleaned the filter.

I did a boil wash.

I put in a load of washing machine cleaner and did the empty 60 degree wash.

I am getting the washing out to dry the second it stops, and using a heated airer.

It still smells weird.

Could it be my fabric conditioner. I normally get Lenor blue. But I've just noticed this stuff has 'spring awakening' written on the bottle. Is this a different fragrance from the ordinary blue stuff?

I normally use Comfort butility changed to Lenor blue conditioner. It's a 5 litre bottle which is 1/4 full.I have noticed a damp smell in house and could not understand it. There is no damp cloths or dampness in my home. I have discovered it's the items like towels that were rinsed in Blue Lenor. I have now washed a load of them but they still smell. I can't stand it. Has anyone else had this problem? It's going in the bin and won't use ever again.

It smells like damp! and doesn't wash out. I am going to try vinegar but will take ages as I have used over 4 litres from 5 litre bottle. A he'll of a lot of clothes bedding and towels. Have you got an answer?

I had this issue. Tried boil washes and cleaner and neither worked. Was a damp, mouldy smell.
I put soda crystals in the drum and drawer and did an empty 60 degree wash. It worked and hasn't happened since.

I had this for a while, but only on dark loads. I switched to powder only when ch helped a bit, but not on jegging type things. No idea why, possibly the Lycra content? Anyway, I stopped using fabric conditioner altogether and It's all good now. I think it built up into the fibres somehow.

So I have whet might be a really silly question for you all... when you clean your washing machine drawer, how do you take it out? I'm baffled Hmm

tapdancingmum · 22/10/2017 18:51

Lift it up and jiggle it. That should get it out Grin

Put your hand in and there is usually a button type thing you press which releases it. Mine is in the pre wash section on the roof/bottom of the top of the laundry wash section machine. Oh, that's a terrible description: sorry!

I know the start of this thread is old, but as it has been mentioned a few times, thought I would comment.

The “original” blue Lenor has always been around and for at least the last 25 years has been called “spring awakening” (not relevant, but before that it was called “April fresh”)

However, it has been reformulated MANY times over the years. In recent years with the advent of the silly “scent release” type formulas, it has seemed to develop a really really pungent almost like vomit smell, I don’t know how Proctor&Gamble think it’s a nice scent.

It really isn’t a nice one to use anymore, which is a shame. A few others like comfort can do this too, it really depends on the scent and how it mixes with your detergent (this is why everyone’s washing smells different, a combination of detergent and softener, water type and even your household “smell” all mixing in to give the final result on laundry).

I switch quite a lot and there are some really nice softeners and scent combinations, unfortunately though a lot of it is trial and error.

Powder for washers and dishwashers. Liquid and tabs leaves a residue that bacteria thrive in. It has taken us a month to get our dishwasher / kitchen / pots smelling clean and not of damp musty not-dried-quick-enough-clothing. Engineer and chemist friends both said switch to powder.

Also don't use too much powder - you can often use less than they say. Rinsing doesn't always get all powder out and can leave residues.

Hi does your washing smell a lil like manure?

rosydreams · 09/02/2019 15:03

i just usually put a load of steriliser tablets on for a empty hot wash every few months stops it smelling damp or weird.Make sure to put it on a quick empty wash after to rinse.
