Magic Eraser - Suitable for Use on Car?

Sustained some superficial damage from a piece of plastic which got caught on the front wheel, leaving some residue around the wheel arch rim and scratched paintwork on the wing. Would a magic sponge work on the paintwork or should I leave it to the garage?

I wouldn't. Magic erasers are slightly abrasive so will ruin the finish of your paint in the same way that using a scourer on stainless steel leaves a mark.

Have you tried just wiping with a damp soft cloth? Amazing how that works when I scratch the car

I'd hoped the rain might wash some away but not so far. Will try an e-cloth tomorrow.

Managed to get worst of the scratches and plastic residue off with chamois, wet sponge and car detergent. Hopefully the rest will polish out.
