Anyone used one of these? Are they worth it? We have an all electric house so need to watch the energy use. We have solar panels too. Are they cheaper than the tumble drier? Economical? Do they fold down to a small size?
Thanks a lot

Best thing ever. Dries everything perfectly.

See I dry everything on it. Towels, bed sheets, jeans. You just have to load it right. I hang pillow cases on bottom rung, fitted sheet folded on middle layer and duvet cover folded into quarters on the top layer. I have the cover for it, but if I put it on before bed, so 10pm, it's dry by 7am. Same with towels. Fold them in half and spread them across a whole layer and they dry over night. You sometimes get a damp 'edge' where it hangs over, but I just put the towels in the airing cupboard to store anyway, so they dry.

Heavier items of clothes you just need to spread out a bit more. Jeans need a few more bars than a cotton t shirt.

I love mine. Baby clothes and lighter items of clothes dry brilliantly, but not in a few hours, I tend to put it on overnight.

I got mine reconditioned from Lakeland on eBay for £55.

I love ours. It takes a full load easily. I usually put the washing on it last thing at night. Socks / pants / small children's things on the bottom, then adult t shirts / leggings on the next level (one t shirt over two bars), then adult trousers on the top. By morning, most things are dry. Heavy clothes (jeans) are best spread out over several bars rather than hung over them IYSWIM. I don't bother with a top sheet over it but do make sure the room it's in has the door shut and the windows open a little to prevent condensation.

I should have mentioned that I also use a dehumidifier

Mine was a gift from my daughter. I love it. loveyoulots is right about how you load it. Load, then cover with a sheet - all will be dry by the time you remember to check.

You lie the clothes flat on the bars, rather than hanging them on the bars.

Yes, that is crucial. I also put things on hangers and hang them from the sides. I have a couple of those multi-peg doodahs for pants and socks which hang on the side too. I do shift things around a bit, mid-dry to make sure things dry as quickly as possible.

I had one for two years then got a tumble dyer. It was so much more hassle than a tumble dryer.

Clothes take all day to dry, you can't fit much on, I had to reshuffle it around to speed up drying process, clothes were quite crumpled and hard once dried. I'd never have one again if I could fit a dryer in.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/08/2016 17:30

A spin dryer would remove enough water to dry on a rack overnight. It would be cheaper to run too.

elvislives2012 · 03/08/2016 22:18

Ooh they sound good. I like the idea of a reconditioned one!

I've had mine for a few years , it's amazing and I wouldn't be without it, the cover is a must as well.

Muskateersmummy · 03/08/2016 22:24

Love ours. We never use anything other than that. It's currently got 3 loads on it, they will be dry by morning

EskiVodkaCranberry · 03/08/2016 22:29

Love mine! I have the top rail out and hang clothes on coat hangers then bung them straight in the wardrobe of they don't need ironing. If I used it properly it's dry quicker but I like my slow/ lazy option. They're brilliant!

I've got this Lakeland tier 2 heated drier, it's beautiful and dries my clothes so well.
