Am I nuts?

I work full time and am very glad of my own income, not having to ask my OH for money for everything. However I feel like there's always more to do around the flat and I never seem to have enough time to do it. Also I kind of miss being at home all the time, able to keep on top if housework and things. I keep catching myself wanting to go back to being a housewife. Am I nuts to think this?

Yeah, a little bit! Can't you get a cleaner? Just two hours a week would help massively.

MollyRedskirts · 26/07/2016 21:56

Ha. No, not at all. You like what you like, and if that's being at home, there's nothing nuts about that.

I'm the opposite. I don't WOTH and I sometimes think I'm nuts for thinking about going to work, or volunteering.

CraftyGirly90 · 26/07/2016 21:57

I wouldn't know where to begin to find a cleaner, what the average rate of pay is, I'd be worried about their trustworthiness etc

I feel like staying at home I was finally getting some sort of order to my home and things just the way I wanted them. Now though it's like everything has gone wonky and nothing has a home or any order anymore

The idea of working, juggling 2 kids and all the household responsibilities worries me!!

So no, your not nuts. I'd love to be able to stay home, but I am also dreaming of when I return to work!!

BastardGoDarkly · 26/07/2016 22:35

Do you like your job op?

CraftyGirly90 · 26/07/2016 22:46

The job I love the hours I hate. I am stressed, just trying to find enough hours to work and clean

I think you should see some cleaning companies. Couple hours a week are more than enough, you won't be worried about doing the cleaning. I honestly feel a little safer when my cleaner is from an agency. Whenever there's a problem or issue or whatever, I can just call them and it's all fixed. I have two kids (DD-15 and DS-16) they're in their teens, getting into trouble, I work full time, and have zero time to worry about cleaning. I use these ones for couple of months and for now they're good. The house is now clean, fresh and good looking. Smile

Could you not do your job part time to have more time at home? Other than that, your partner should be doing more in the home. IF you both work full time then you should be sharing the chores at home.

AmIbeingTreasonable · 11/08/2016 06:27

You need to start from the premise that both adults have equal leisure time. If this is not the case, therein lies the problem!

GinAndOnIt · 11/08/2016 06:30

I was in this exact position earlier in the year, and eventually just bit the bullet and handed my notice in. Best thing I did! Everyone around me has very strong opinions on me being home all day but I've never been happier.

OP, is it just the two of you, or are there others?

RedMapleLeaf · 11/08/2016 08:47

I work full time (no children) in a professional, high status job. I love nothing more than doing homely things like laundry or cooking or cleaning the bathroom. I'm not so in love with hoovering mind.
